The seminar, developed from the research done for chapters 2 and 3, presented a model of grief that integrated a relational theology with a Freudian psychodynamic psychology. Brueggemann's 1984 work on the Psalms is compared to modern grief theory and used to develop a sermon series and Bible study.  The range of emotions expressed in the Psalms parallels the emotions experienced by a person facing death.  Congregation pre- and post-tests were administered to measure changes in anxiety.  Interview instruments were developed to measure the effectiveness of the sermons and Bible study series.
