The author sought to discover whether or not such a ministerial identity appropriation took place; how students recognized such an appropriation; and to what extent the process of theological reflection in the seminar setting was critical to the act of appropriation. The background of the school is presented, followed by discussion on basic curriculum principles, biblical considerations and cultural factors applicable to theological education in Melanesia. The SIM concept indicates that faculty will carry out on-campus academic activities as well as off-campus field work with undergraduate theological students on a weekly basis.  The first part develops a theoretical framework to obtain criteria for the evaluation.  The second part contains the perceptions stated by respondents to a survey on the SIM concept.  Results indicated that the concept is widely accepted.
