The project included the teaching of a class on televangelism at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon, Sask.  The thesis begins with three hypothetical scenes of religious television in the days of Christ and His assumed reactions to it. The thesis consists of two parts.  Part one includes historical and philosophical reasons for the use of religious programs on television.  Part two presents summaries and a proposal for positive involvement for the ELCIC. The project examines the responsibility of divinity schools to integrate aging concerns into the theological educational and professional training of ministers and other church leaders and proposes an aging center as one model for the divinity school to consider. Building upon a theoretical base, four case studies were conducted allowing present cross-cultural workers to evaluate classroom and seminar training in a variety of areas and to list areas in which training is needed. The resulting model is of a school with a strong emphasis upon cross-cultual training in the regular curriculum, on-campus short courses, and external seminars. This project is intended to impact the training of seminary students and hospital chaplains. Supervision facilitates the integration of academic and experiential learning.  The historic and contemporary use of supervision as a modality in ministerial, social work, and teacher education was examined.  Experienced ministers and recent ministerial graduates were interviewed regarding their experiences of being supervised during preordination education. Seminary catalogues confirm this statement. In the author's experience the beginning of one's ministry at a church is a crucial time; hence leadership is extremely important.  According to LC-MS statistics (1977-1987) 17.2 percent of the Synod's parish clergy began a new ministry each year.  The author offers practical insights on congregations and leadership.
