The project design for the dissertation included nine steps: (1) Sending questionnaires to the seminary directors of field education belonging to the Association for Theological Field Education. This produced data about field education supervisors, training of supervisors, and determined specifically what films, if any, were presently available for this purpose. (2) Conducting research at the Library of Congress regarding the availability of films on pastoral supervision. (3) Surveying Association for Clinical Pastoral Education members for possible audio-visual resources. (4) Making visitation to seminaries where significant pastoral supervisor training programs were in effect. This also included the audio taping of those training programs. (5) Taking information from the author’s own training and experience, the questionnaires, the visits, and preparing a script for an orientation and training film. (6) Shooting and editing a color video film on pastoral supervisors. (7) Showing the film to a group of persons who were, or would be, pastoral supervisors. (8) Receiving and evaluating feedback from the persons viewing the film by means of a questionnaire testing instrument. (9) Preparing a dissertation report describing all of the above steps and the results."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851872726976823296,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T18:44:16.971Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"191131b5-ff84-4be1-b543-b38be77576c9","accessControl_ssim":["a8d62084-ef0b-4c83-ac7e-c06820cd052d"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["Ursinus: the dangers and opportunities of latent theologies resident within established congregations"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:26:37Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["675f3790-1919-4239-85b0-deb312c092ba"],"hasLease_ssim":["4b83a7f1-e852-4072-b10f-4d6d31bac315"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2013"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. John Bomberger and later James I. Goode had theological objections to the Evangelical Catholic reforms, so Bomberger and others opened a competing seminary called Ursinus (now Urinus College) to prepare low church clergy for the ministry in competition with Mercersburg (which later moved to Lancaster and became Lancaster Theological Seminary). My interest lies in the distinctive features of the Ursinus movement in order to determine how it had an impact on one congregation, Wolf’s Church. I hope to uncover the ways in which its theological principles encouraged certain ecclesial practices that lingered long after the controversy with the Mercersburg movement had faded from the congregation’s memory. My work answers the question, “What were the theological convictions and ecclesiastical practices of the Ursinus Movement as a response to the Mercersburg theology in its 19th century German Reformed Church context, including key figures, casual factors, salient features, features of the “Ursinus” piety/theology as distinct from Mercersburg, etc. Having identified the salient and distinctive characteristics of the Ursinus tradition, I then will explore the ways in which this heritage may have informed the ecclesial practices of Wolf’s Church and kept that legacy alive even when the congregants could not articulate the characteristics of the Ursinus tradition or even identify the theology embedded in their exposure in their corporate life as being in the Ursinus mold."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com","martins02@moravian.edu"],"_version_":1851860296763703296,"timestamp":"2025-12-18T15:26:42.596Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:13:07Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:22:02Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"40c0a661-6bf6-4cfb-a2c0-c56b41430f79","accessControl_ssim":["173bfe32-c0a8-424f-b740-db753a4aac61"],"hasRelatedMediaFragment_ssim":["f9cb98c6-d4e6-458e-b9e7-ff3792d1503e"],"hasRelatedImage_ssim":["f9cb98c6-d4e6-458e-b9e7-ff3792d1503e"],"depositor_ssim":["karenmrohrer@gmail.com"],"depositor_tesim":["karenmrohrer@gmail.com"],"title_tesim":["Why I’m Like This: Life in the Shade of a Dying Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:13:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-20T17:21:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e9d6112f-c471-4438-8ce1-a69f8db34620"],"hasLease_ssim":["8555d5cd-1de2-423a-9dfa-f788956c98e8"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Chicago Theological Seminary"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2024"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Keeping, producing, and providing knowledge comes with cultural assumptions about what should be kept in a library, the types of knowledge they should help produce and services they should provide. As a member of Western society, the CTU library carries a legacy of colonial thought which has shaped the existing library collection and influences the knowledge produced by library users. Using the work of Kwok Pui-Lan, I will look through decolonial and postcolonial lenses to reveal injustice and inform possible interventions."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b51273d2-7ff5-4ecb-af24-64508c2367ad"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129364875706368,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:14:32.643Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:12:57Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:11:46Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"bc7e288c-ef0e-4801-b78e-2b64144746ce","accessControl_ssim":["5791ab7e-28c1-478c-a3c1-bf8d8f3f2ae7"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Kingdom-Minded Professionals In Cross-Cultural Contexts: Discovering Competencies For Life And Christian Service In Cooperation With Mission Agencies In Canada"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T20:12:56Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:33:45Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["945d3f35-5db3-4999-968b-06294907b950"],"hasLease_ssim":["83bf0fe2-8cd3-4d41-ba1e-03815734e1d2"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"discipline_tesim":["Missional Engagement"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["David Gustafson Ph.D."],"year_tesim":["2023"],"location_tesim":["Canada"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Two primary, broad, necessary characteristics of professionals are spiritual maturity and cultural awareness. Two means of developing these are experience and discipleship. Experience is needed in their professional field, cross-cultural interaction, and Christian ministry; discipleship is needed to integrate good theology into one’s life, work and ministry. This project proposes a model for multi-faceted experience and integrated discipleship that moves professionals from self-awareness to Christ-like wholeness, and from cultural awareness to wise missiology. It summarizes roles for the Assembly, Agency, and Academy in general, and proposes specific action for Heritage Theological Seminary, in Cambridge, Ontario."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791125419152375808,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:11:49.708Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:40:54Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:54:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d6528446-d5b8-461d-8f03-ccd0ea8e3166","accessControl_ssim":["41c7bfd1-68de-42ae-bb25-07f2704995ef"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A variety of gifts : theological and pedagogical inquiry on the teaching of biblical languages"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T19:40:53Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:15:31Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5e81f6db-3184-4fe0-82e4-d25f66d865a2"],"hasLease_ssim":["c9b43325-e2de-4041-98ca-ca7e37a9f073"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Jean Clandinin and F. Michael Connelly's three-dimensional narrative inquiry space as a template, the author reflects theologically and pedagogically upon twenty years' experience with biblical languages at Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. The theological emphases focus upon the theology of the learner, as shaped by the imago Dei of Genesis 1; the theology of the teacher, as embodied in Corinthians 9; and the theology of learning, as envisioned in 1 Corinthians 12.The pedagogical focus critiques the efficacy of Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences and the practicality of Randall Buth's listening comprehension approach to learning biblical languages. Buth's work builds upon the conclusions of second-language acquisition theorists and teachers Stephen Krashen, James Asher, and Harris Winitz. The author concludes that the work of both Gardner and Buth must be expanded to serve the theological goals of Western Theological Seminary. Gardner' s multiple intelligences theory can shape both how one learns and what one learns. Buth's emphasis upon fluency delays the shift to the rich rewards of biblical exegesis."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Western Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c24f9e0f-f5f0-45a3-b7f1-6a406c6902fb"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791135685353144320,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:55:00.320Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":109,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
