Arguing that missionary discipleship moves at the speed of quality relationships, it proposes that a healthy social field—marked by trust, openness, and communion—between bishop and priests structurally amplifies missionary vibrancy. To be known requires respect and understanding of their communities’ pastoral needs and religious practices. Sadly, many leaders have a colonial mentality that foments stereotypes and even prejudice toward Hispanics. The only way to move beyond this mentality is to sincerely enter into relationships with Latino(a)s, and understand how they see themselves. This respectful understanding must begin with our Church leaders. Latino/as want to share their cultural and religious practices that connect them to their families and ancestors. Although the Hispanic Catholics play a vital role in the life of the Church, barriers to inclusion remain. Hispanic Catholics want to fully participate in the Church’s mission to serve the whole community. They are eager to share their gifts through collaborative service in their parishes.\r\n\r\nIn this thesis project I reveal Hispanic communities that are already present but not often seen. I introduce their religious practices to the larger community including church leaders. I focus on the religious practice called Adoración Nocturna Mexicana (Mexican Nocturnal Adoration). A practice where members of the Mexican Catholic communities spend the night in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament of the Altar where, like all Catholics, they worship the true presence of Jesus Christ in the consecrated hosts reposited in the Tabernacle and exposed in the monstrance on the altar during nocturnal adoration vigil. The study shows how Hispanics have historically and are presently practicing nocturnal adoration as part of their popular religious practices. More importantly, I explore what drives them toward these religious practices. By listening to their stories, I have heard their heartfelt voices as they express their needs and desires, spiritually, socially, and emotionally. I also demonstrate how they emulate the Samaritan woman at the well (John: 4-42), and like her are moved to evangelization when they also come to the realization of being known and therefore loved by Christ. \r\n\r\nI delve into the pastoral, social, and theological dimensions of Hispanic popular Catholicism and devotional practices, referred to as Santo praxis and lo cotidiano (the everyday). \r\n\r\nThe goal is to demonstrate how popular religious devotion is forged in the historical struggles of people who are oppressed. I describe in detail the rituals promoted by Adoración Nocturna Mexicana. \r\n\r\nAnd finally, share a theological reflection of the study’s findings and a pastoral response related to the importance of intercultural competence for effective leadership and accompaniment of Hispanic communities.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/downloads/53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c?file=thumbnail","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_ids_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"file_set_ids_ssim":["53c67891-28b0-4cc7-90c6-569a51b7443c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["rmendez@student.ctu.edu"],"_version_":1854424409589153792,"timestamp":"2026-01-15T22:42:11.142Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:11Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"526bfd14-5abe-43ad-8c46-d48b5e10bb18","accessControl_ssim":["3a48edd2-ffb6-4312-8015-6f37a8ded66c"],"depositor_ssim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["martins02@moravian.edu"],"title_tesim":["How Christian practices are used by laypeople to attract others to the Christian faith"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:07Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-12-18T15:27:07Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c0eadef2-14d7-4029-a276-72acb7fed2c3"],"hasLease_ssim":["025838df-0de4-4695-9e26-3dd73700c722"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["DMin"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lancaster Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["2019"],"video_embed_tesim":[""],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. Despite the deeply emotional and spiritual nature of funeral service, many practitioners do not explicitly connect their faith commitment with their professional practice. This research argues that structured ministerial formation can enhance personal fulfillment and improve the ability of Christian funeral directors to serve grieving families with greater compassion and effectiveness.\r\n\r\nThrough qualitative research with a select group of funeral directors and an analysis of literature on faith-based grief counseling and accompaniment, the study explores the intersection of faith and funeral service. The primary audience includes Christian funeral directors in a specific region of the United States seeking a faith-integrated vocational approach. Secondary audiences consist of educators and leaders in the funeral industry, such as accrediting bodies and professional organizations, who may consider incorporating faith-based ministerial formation into professional training. Additionally, the findings may hold relevance for funeral professionals from other faith traditions.\r\nThe thesis pursues three key outcomes: (1) a critical examination of the relationship between funeral direction and faith within professional education programs, (2) an analysis of the perspectives and aspirations of Christian funeral directors integrating faith with vocation, and (3) a preliminary vision for a structured ministerial praxis that positions funeral service as a transformational ministry rather than merely a transactional profession.\r\n\r\nThis study acknowledges certain limitations, including the relatively small sample size and demographic constraints reflecting the predominantly white, male funeral industry in suburban Chicago. However, it incorporates insights from female and racially diverse funeral directors to provide a more representative perspective. While striving for diversity, equity, and inclusion, the findings are not presented as universally applicable beyond the study’s participants. Additionally, while the research does not introduce a tested vocational integration workshop, it lays the groundwork for future development.\r\n\r\nBeyond its direct ministerial implications, this research offers broader applications, encouraging professional funeral associations to consider faith-informed training programs. It also invites faith communities to recognize funeral service as a ministry, offering affirmation and ongoing support to practitioners. Although focused on Christian funeral directors, the study anticipates that its insights may resonate with professionals from other religious traditions, ultimately fostering a more holistic and spiritually grounded approach to funeral service.\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["plesefuneral@gmail.com"],"_version_":1831416556034195456,"timestamp":"2025-05-06T23:42:12.131Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2025-05-05T15:31:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-05T15:31:06Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b6f4d441-01ce-4544-8db4-c381a63d3667","accessControl_ssim":["cbe9f01f-ac44-4474-8104-e0bdf45f50e8"],"depositor_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"depositor_tesim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"title_tesim":["Contrasting Visions of Church: An Exploration of Two Korean House Church Movements"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2025-05-05T15:31:03Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2025-05-05T15:31:03Z","isPartOf_ssim":["admin_set/default"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["0aad1e60-1fc2-42d6-bb50-ad7f48584497"],"hasLease_ssim":["c92fced7-dfd5-44f4-aace-80138ea8ad71"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Doctor of Ministry"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity International University"],"year_tesim":["2025"],"resource_type_tesim":["D.Min. It addresses two key research questions: (1) the internal and external factors influencing church multiplication, and (2) the role of theological\r\nframeworks in shaping these practices. \r\n\r\nBridge Church, grounded in the Gospel of the Kingdom theology, emphasizes relational depth, spiritual formation, and organic leadership transitions. While this approach fosters sustainable, mission-aligned growth, it faces challenges such as delayed multiplication and leadership fatigue, often influenced by life-stage constraints and strong relational bonds. In contrast, Green Hill Church adopts principles from the Church Growth Movement (CGM), prioritizing structured training, hierarchical efficiency, and rapid multiplication. Though effective in achieving numerical growth, this pragmatic approach can result in emotional strain, fragmented relationships, and premature leadership assignments.\r\n\r\nThe findings indicate that sustainable church multiplication requires a balance of theological integrity, relational trust, structured leadership pathways, and life-cycle sensitivity. Integrating the relational and theological depth of Kingdom theology with the strategic clarity of CGM offers a promising framework for growth. This is particularly seen amongst those who come to Christ out of a Muslim background. This study began with the desire to increase the effectiveness of discipleship amongst believers from an Iranian Muslim background. It evolved into an exploration of discipleship, its foundations, its meaning, and a pathway that would lead to maturity in Christ. It centered on the question, “How can I help my brother from a Muslim background grow up to maturity in Christ?”\r\nThis question was also affected by concerns about culture. Each culture has its own priorities and concerns, the ways in which people relate, understand each other, and live together. Respecting all people includes understanding their culture. Yet culture is critiqued under the authority of the Word of God. What can be retained, and what needs to be changed, in a culture in which the people are living under the Lordship of Christ? This led to an exploration of the Kingdom of God and His universal directives in discipleship. It includes His unchanging standard of holiness and love. It includes the spiritual battle in which discipleship takes place, in the process of traveling to the Lord’s goal for each disciple, maturity in Christ. It included questions such as, “What is maturity in Christ?” and “How do I arrive at maturity in Christ?” This study proposes to make a start in the discussion of discipleship to maturity in Christ. It presents principles and a pathway towards this goal. Always in view is the application of this process into the lives of dear brothers and sisters who have come to Christ from a Muslim background, of which some examples are included. May this study be a blessing and help to all believers, particularly to those serving believers from a Muslim background.\r\n\r\n"],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["admin_set/default-default-approving","admin_set/default-default-depositing","admin_set/default-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Default Admin Set"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["dminadmin@tiu.edu"],"_version_":1823054913319469056,"timestamp":"2025-02-03T16:37:28.231Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":117,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
