Biblical exegesis demonstrates that baptism, though multivalent, is the rite of entrance into the new community established by the redeeming work of Christ. An historical survey of the Reformed tradition, giving special attention to the work of John Calvin and the documents of the Westminster Assembly, concludes that the Reformed tradition has held to a highly developed baptismal theology, seeing the sacrament not as a mere symbol but as an instrumental means of grace. Baptismal theology has, however, become a source of debate and division, often focused on the question of 'baptismal regeneration.' This thesis asserts that the church can move beyond these debates by the renewal of a rich, instrumental baptismal theology--a renewal essential to the church's missional identity."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791126501771444224,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:29:02.174Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:39:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:07:07Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"26318d22-a044-4a89-8c24-4f4a33c30377","accessControl_ssim":["73c0f9b4-d3f3-4d62-991d-e1b80898730d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Islam as a barrier to growth and mission in the Diocese of Wusasa"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T10:39:32Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:15:24Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ca84af76-d2e6-469b-9275-b6546cd211eb"],"hasLease_ssim":["18b8b968-6986-4c27-9682-62f12b60c2cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry (Ambridge, PA)"],"advisor_tesim":["Grant LeMarquand"],"year_tesim":["2006"],"location_tesim":["Nigeria"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ali Buba Lamido"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry"],"subject_tesim":["Dialogue","Church history","Missions to Muslims","Theology","Interfaith relations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The intersection of Muslim culture and Christian faith is crucial to addressing the issue of peace in the world.
