A training manual for pastors and elders of DCU Kampala cluster of churches was developed following an investigation of Scripture and a literature review on pertinent subjects. Contextualization was attempted by integrating Ugandan stories, illustrations, case studies, examples, words, figures of speech, and cultural values and norms into the training materials and the implementation process, without compromising the precedence of Scripture. Lead pastors were challenged to design and implement a 52-week program for transforming their congregations and to do so under the mentorship of the author for the first six months. Questionnaires were used to evaluate the training materials and mentoring period. Results show that the trainees acquired valuable knowledge and skills, were motivated and challenged, and, in some cases, felt that they were given a fresh lease of life. The lead pastors are cultivating an outward focus in their mission and vision, with a view of transforming their communities with the gospel."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799720929905868800,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T03:13:47.549Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:09:38Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:03:41Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"ccf52b85-030c-47d1-933a-cda5940418c2","accessControl_ssim":["8bf9140b-43f6-422f-b734-decd17d1bb64"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Christ confronts us in Colossians: a preaching and teaching program on the person, titles and work of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T15:09:37Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:01:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e69ab938-3058-4c29-a9f5-f36feb060cbf"],"hasLease_ssim":["d03e2f29-a46f-46c1-bdb2-ee5548ed5b5e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["David A Currie"],"year_tesim":["2011"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kenneth J Macari"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sermons","Expository preaching","Paul, Saint, Apostle","Bible. This thesis project is designed and organized around bibliographic research, historical analysis, and descriptive research. A biblical foundation is laid, with particular attention given to an exposition of Matthew 18. An overview of church conflict is presented with a focus on an Anabaptist theological perspective. A brief historical analysis of the Mennonite Brethren movement provides the denominational context. The conbination of a low view of man and a high view of God was critical in both the establishment of the early church under Augustine and the the later renewal of American Puritan culture under Edwards. The high view of God is seen in the writings of both scholars, and implications of this theme are seen in Puritan culture and the writings of Jonathan Edwards. The implications of this lost high view of God are examined, as it relates to the modern church's more anthrocentric focus, across most denominational lines, and practical application for church renewal is suggested."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["31b95ee0-a31c-43dc-8ec9-d97b30239a2d"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130436540301313,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:31:34.662Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:55:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:40:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"5b60fff7-2eef-489d-9e67-187134801d90","accessControl_ssim":["a5b63ecb-707a-424a-bfc0-581b36a5b619"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["An analysis of corporate change"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:55:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T00:49:04Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2b2659c9-ad42-45dd-8a2f-984bbc80fd15"],"hasLease_ssim":["f7268184-aa34-4dae-8727-ef7ddf78f9fe"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["2009"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steve O Steff"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Industrial management","Bible. Hence the main purpose of this study was to give expression to Paul's concept as a model for Christ International Community Church to culturally incarnate the 'Good News' to God's people in God's world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Wesley Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["5a6e4a36-5801-4bff-8e61-86d7489efb4a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717793330888704,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:23:56.279Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:42:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:40:17Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"901dcd71-5f52-435b-8e23-270f48ea3783","accessControl_ssim":["2b2ab613-ce7d-4018-b06b-693969bf7645"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Common worship in the age of science: the use of liturgy to form scientific-theological understanding"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T14:42:45Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:21:12Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["4254f8bd-82cc-47a2-a791-108f3554d94f"],"hasLease_ssim":["b6045f99-b34b-4cfe-871e-48c80ca35575"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Deirdre King Hainsworth"],"year_tesim":["2012"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Henry A Pearce"],"publisher_tesim":["Pittsburgh Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Religion and science","Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)","Theology","Liturgics"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This paper describes use of liturgy drawing on the language of science to determine whether such liturgy might bridge Christian theology and the scientific world. A qualitative study was conducted using grounded theory. Interviews with church planting experts, church planters, and an online survey were the primary data sources. The online survey helped triangulate the data and provided a quantitative element to the research. This research found that relational connectedness was critical to people hearing, connecting, and staying in a new church.
