These new styles foster an 'entertainment culture,' thus producing Christians who have a limited knowledge of both scriptures, the salvation story, and the sacraments. This entertainment culture also nurtures superficial and passive responses to critical issues in the lives of members. The contention is that reclaiming the centrality of sacraments in worship will nurture the capacity of church members to respond more authentically and actively to issues in their lives and the social context. More specifically, it is suggested that both the preparation for and the practice of the sacraments deepens descipleship and creates a contextually relevant worship experience. There is much voluntary outpouring of remorse, guilt and shame in the confession of sin. In the light of self-psychology and object relation theory, this study indicates how narcissistic wounds are often at the heart of confessions, and how the priest hearing confession can more effectively address the healing of these wounds. The literature search examined biblical, theological, and historical foundations.  The field research was conducted using a basic questionnaire with twenty questions to conduct open-ended, guided interviews.  The sample consisted of key Pentecostal leaders from the Assemblies of God and key non-Pentecostal evangelical leaders serving in strategic positions with ministry experience of over twenty-five years.  The literature search revealed that theologians and practitioners of church history who overemphasized either the Word or the Spirit fell into error, portrayed a lack of balance, and caused division in the church.  The field research revealed that despite the differences in theologies and labels, the work of the Spirit was pretty similar. By distinguishing too sharply between the Word and the Spirit, the church has lost an important biblical perspective and fractured the Body of Christ.
