Liberals are very cautious about being too involved in healing and deliverance.  Liberal congregation members go to fundamentalist healing centers, and return on Sunday mornings to their own congregations.  This project investigated views from churches with members of African background about their belief in healing and deliverance.  We discovered that many of the church members and pastors prefer the term 'healing' to 'deliverance,' for they believe that the latter scares some people from participating. The research explored the perceptions of catechumens and candidates, in order that pastoral ministers might facilitate the credibility of the Church's image in actualizing the liberation of humanity. For the catechumens and the candidates, critical areas of concern are identified as family, education, and spirituality. Chapter one outlines the fundamental research of background information regarding the city, the church and the books of the Thessalonians. Chapter two contains the analysis of the contents of Paul's messages to the Thessalonian church based on biblical truth and faith. Chapter three concerns the study of Paul's missionary strategies in Thessalonica, including his selection of location and people for ministering, his methods of raising the church, his teachings, his working with his own hands, his team ministry and his obedience under the authority of the Holy Spirit. Chapter four presents the study of the principles of church planting and evangelistic ministries for Vineyard Christian Fellowship based on Paul's strategies for Thessalonica. The author's research led to an exploration of the historical background and circumstances that led the movement to embrace the wealthy.
