The spiritual, emotional, and practical needs of transplant patients and their families are examined.  Next the biblical, ethical, and theological issues related to organ transplantation are examined.  Resources which help pastors find help and guidance are discussed. This ministry project is based on the premise that most religious leaders generally use dated statistical materials, life changing stories, and personal experiences to raise awareness on the subject.The result of this ministry project (through personal interviews and questionnaires) discovered that religious leaders understand the Gift Exchange only in relation to the exchanging of personal gifts on special occasions and holidays.  Thus, the conclusion gathered from this ministry project suggests that the Theory of Gift Exchange is an excellent pastoral model to educate about organ donation and organ transplantation.
