The context of the study is a Free Methodist Church in western Pennsylvania. The project is built around the case study method which currently is used at Asbury Theological Seminary to evaluate professional action and encourage critical thinking. The important factors which contribute to trust building are familiarity, compatibility, self-disclosure and leadership styles. If a pastor is aware of these factors it may lead to a longer pastoral tenure and greater satisfaction in dealing with role expectations."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134535239335937,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:36:43.486Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:40:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:03:00Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"927f98c2-6afa-4f0c-a21c-41a4e155ed0c","accessControl_ssim":["ba52b00b-3282-4a1d-99c4-1e6f31c87e9f"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The development of clergy-laity ministry relationships: building trust after failure"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T23:40:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:25:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["5007c56e-6ecf-4540-872c-46daed2162ae"],"hasLease_ssim":["e8e2d1e5-9293-4365-8e0f-cbfdd9571136"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jerry M Stubblefield"],"year_tesim":["1987"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Ronald D Shepherd"],"keyword_tesim":["Religious surveys"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Interpersonal relations","Trust","Clergy","Mission of the church","Laity","Small groups"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The project originates from a need to change long-standing unhealthy patterns of ministry. Research in local church ministry relationships determines how poor relationships affect the mission and purpose of the church. Extensive materials on local church relationships and the theory of ministry relationships are available. However, little practical material on improving relationships is available. The research reveals that the hindrance of local church ministry by poor relationships between clergy and laity is a Protestant-wide problem. Primary resources suggest a biblical and theoretical model for the improvement of ministry relationships. The model proposes small groups which is the nominal group technique. The outcome of the project is the implementation of new communication patterns that build trust."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["e59d8a7f-b140-41e1-9d1f-4e98aaa1d973"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791132417513226240,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:03:03.865Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:30:03Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:29:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d53c6f14-1a98-4c4c-b501-3340677b4b98","accessControl_ssim":["9c492030-08f0-4b84-965f-b8ded561e182"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The healing relationship - the healing community: a personal journey towards ministry"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:30:02Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:13:32Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["ff741f04-8ffe-4c98-80d8-126c04a6f3d9"],"hasLease_ssim":["f6f5870a-5e01-4238-a5fc-50273978efc1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"advisor_tesim":["John M Billinsky"],"year_tesim":["1982"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Craig G Clemow"],"keyword_tesim":["Pastoral counselors"],"publisher_tesim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Faith","Healing","Communities--Religious aspects","Infants","Trust"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The areas addressed in this paper are the nature of: persons, development, neurosis, change, process in healing relationships; and personal reflections on the healing community. Early concepts of trust versus mistrust are connected to the infant's needs being met regularly, lovingly, and satisfactorily by the primary person in the infant's life. Belief systems are healthy or unhealthy in proportion to the repetitive healthy or unhealthy situations that are encountered during one's development. Belief systems are not synonymous with ego development, but the two occur simultaneously. Understanding the concept of belief systems enabled the author to understand the clients who entered therapy with him. This understanding affects the way he listens, perceives and filters information, and conducts himself in therapy sessions. The term 'healing relationship' refers to the one-on-one relationship between therapist and client. His personal reflection on the healing community reviews the journey from ordination to psychotherapy, and describes the integration of two vocations into one--pastoral psychotherapist."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Andover Newton Theological School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["63ab0f5c-c5fb-460c-b8ba-dd2fd91f7145"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134068734164992,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:29:18.592Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:59:46Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:49:44Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"287a7fdb-849f-4afc-8bda-155b50e0b5ce","accessControl_ssim":["6f5ad896-3637-4b7d-adc5-d2d8d1fa83e1"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Equipping senior campus ministers to develop local staff teams"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:59:46Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:19:09Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c46ed3e9-ef2b-4b3d-aa2e-f12256d35770"],"hasLease_ssim":["13194790-08ff-4895-b4fc-4a195e65af70"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Daniel Boling"],"year_tesim":["2000"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Joseph G Graham"],"keyword_tesim":["Campus ministry"],"publisher_tesim":["Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Trust"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The purpose of this project was to equip senior campus ministers to develop local staff teams.
