Implementation requires a sound theological understanding of the covenant relationship between God and God's people and a grounding in the covenant traditions of the four major denominations comprising the United Church of Christ.  A group of Hope Church, Congregational members studied the dynamic relationship between autonomy and covenant as it exists among the members and churches of the United Church of Christ. In the United Church of Christ, the situation is complicatd by an historical no-intrusion policy called autonomy.  This prevents or at least delays any quality intervention.  The author uses his own experience, as well as other resources, to build a workable, creative model of strategies that is offered as a contribution to ministry.  It is at once therapeutic, but suggestive of preventative directions as well.
