Questionnaires and personal interviews provide basic information. The results indicate the necessary ingredients of effective shared ministry. The author sees shared ministry as holding both the possibilities for exceptional service and demoralized apathy among pastors.  He exposes the ideals of the call to ministry, the ministry of all Christians, collegiality and the recognition of personality traits and leadership styles. Working agreements are seen as a necessity in this process. Three disciplines, Christian education, church growth, and organizational development are used to inform reflection on the project.  The conclusion of the reflection is that if the Sunday School is to be a vital Christian organization, it must more closely approximate the Anglican Volunteer Religious Societies from which it began. The issues surrounding clergy salaries are presented.  A target group of large and small membership churches test the thesis: when there is a method, and when the district superintendent and bishop support the method, salaries will significantly increase.  Issues considered include stewardship, pastoral appointments, clergy self-esteem, parsonages, budgets, workshops for laity and clergy, and the process of raising salaries. In recent years, there has been a greater emphasis on Hispanic ministries in this region which has resulted in the establishment of new local churches.  There are six congregations that serve Hispanic families.  A common problem affects the growth and development of these churches.  The Conference has not provided adequate training for the pastors and lay persons of the congregations.  In this study five of these churches engage in a six-session training project aimed at motivating the participants for local mission.  Every session begins with a keynote address followed by a question and answer period and three different discussion workshops.  Each workshop deals with a specific area of concern: missiology, Christian education, or Christian stewardship. The study provides a missiological framework based on biblical imperatives from the book of Acts.  It refers to socio-cultural realities as well as denominational factors in the life of these congregations. The basic purpose was to aid United Methodists in the appropriation of their catholic heritage through an actual study of the pertinent eucharistic writings of the two Wesleys.  The largest part of the dissertation deals with the following eucharistic motifs found in the Wesleyan literature: constant communion, real presence, sacrifice and medicine of immortality.  Attention is also given to Wesley's 1784 Sunday Service, Methodism's Anglican roots and the progress of liturgical renewal in the United Methodist Church.
