However, many local churches of both denominations are growing, if there is the dedication of an able, visionary, and spiritual pastor, committed laity, and ministries which meet the physical and spiritual needs of people in the community. That the existing process impinged upon morale and subsequent ministerial development was shown.  A survey instrument was developed by which the effectiveness of the existing program was evaluated. Methodologically project data was derived from survey and interview material using one school as a case study.  The statistical analysis was related to church-relatedness and coherence by reviews of literature in the fields of theology, epistemology, faith development, church-relatedness, and college curriculum development. The findings supported the important role of curricular and co-curricular coherence in church-related higher education. The model was tested in the Barberton/Norton Cluster of the greater Akron, Ohio, area. Contextual associates from the five churches studied their context, constructed a theological model, and systematically evaluated the current status and potential of church relationship before designing the process.  This model describes the process and presents its conclusions and evaluation. Ten men and women in the Dalton District of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church committed four weeks to the project.  The district superintendent was the convener, a co-participant, and provided leadership by precept and example.  Sessions included theological foundations of wellness, a medical evaluation of each participant, identification of healthy eating and exercise habits, and application of learnings to the local church and community.  All participants met at least one of their goals relating to diet and/or exercise.
