The issue was the development of a resource which could aid staff members to work together in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork.  United Methodism's 'quadrilateral court of appeal' was utilized as the hermeneutic, for those guidelines allow for variety in developing a teamwork style in ministry. Consideration was given to organizational theory and leadership styles.  The model involved a questionnaire for staff members and a workshop. The project first presents a doctrine of church and ministry with special emphasis on the United Methodist Church.  It turns next to a description of the practicum which involved the use of especially designed instruments with four pastors and selected congregational representatives, in group and individual sessions. Five steps were taken to begin the transition. A handbook was developed to guide teams. A small group experience was used to expose team leaders to the handbook and model the team concept. A one day workshop was given for team members. A sermon was delivered to the congregation to encourage a positive organizational climate. Some team maintenance activities were employed.
