For this reason ministerial training programs do not reflect a strong prophetic dimension.  Rather, they show a strong bias toward the priestly perspective.  The methods of the study are 1) a review of literature in priestly and prophetic ministry, supervised pastoral education, values, the effect of secularism on ministry, the need for balance in ministry; 2) a survey of value attitudes in seventy SPE supervisors; 3) an analysis of data from the survey. A television show conveys identifiable value and theological messages. These messages, though often subliminal, reinforce values about what is 'good' and what is 'bad', as well as what and who are important.  Although we are taught in school to be literate readers, we are never really taught television literacy. In response to this question the author formulated 'The Inquirer's Catechism' to measure the phenomenon. Over a two year period, the author taught a series of structured catechetical courses to four groups of inquirers.  He tested all participants on their perceived faith relationships with God at the beginning and the end of the instructions with a values clarification test, a diagrammed drawing project, and a self-report questionnaire. The author analyzed the statistics and noted all the signs of transformational process. During their eight weeks of training, eighty recruits were exposed to four sessions with the chaplain in which a modified approach to Lawrence Kohlberg's theory of cognitive moral education was used as the educational structure and method. The recruits were pre-tested and post-tested with the Defining Issues Test developed by James R. Rest.  Stage levels of moral development were determined in the pre-test and used by the chaplain in lesson preparation.  The stage levels were compared with the post-test in an attempt to determine moral development during recruit training. Through historical research related to the founding of the BIC Church and to the BIC's theological roots of Anabaptism and Pietism the author identified six foundational beliefs. The goal of this project is to enable the church community to embrace biblical core values in the discovery of functional values which determine the vision for ministry in the local church. The project will involve the identification of core values on two levels of church leadership. First, the church staff will engage in the process of identifying core values in personal ministry as well as for the Christian community. Second, participants from the church body will be involved in identifying core values. The articulation of core values will lead to the development of a clearly defined vision for ministry. The project leader will lead the staff and congregation through the discovery process. The process will be accomplished through an off-campus retreat, seminar sessions, and a series of sermons on the biblical core values of Christian community. Participants will evaluate each stage of the process for clarity and
