The training was derived from the growth model practiced at Saddleback Community Church, as it was implemented in Toronto, Canada.  The dissertation reviews literature relevant to church growth theory and strategy.  It includes two data gathering surveys.  These surveys measure growth prior to and after the training.  The model provided good insight into training lay people for ministry as church planters.
