The researcher hypothesized that women in group therapy will heal more rapidly than those in individual counseling.  The results from therapy sessions held over a period of six months supported the researcher's hypothesis.  The researcher concluded that pastoral counseling with a focus on reframing techniques is more successful in group therapy. She offers a historical sketch of single women in ministry and discusses pneumatology, United Methodist doctrine, and Quaker theology. A congregational control group explored differences between single and married clergy leadership styles, and a single clergywomen's control group learned, practiced, and evaluated the adapted process.
