The thesis provides a biblical foundation for church as transformational, incarnational and missional. The thesis reviews current literature in ecclesiology, culture and women in ministry. Two case studies of churches each with a women's minister, representing a modern and postmodern approach to ministry were examined. This thesis will explore the sociological, historical, biblical and theological reasons that unequivocally discourage women from using their ministry gifts of teaching and preaching the Word of God within the context of the church.  The author used two surveys and a hexagon focus group to gather data.
