These women should be involved in the leadership of the local church and provided with leadership training for their development and release into ministry.  The purpose of this research was to implement and evaluate the impact of the 'Women in Leadership' seminar.  It is an evaluation study conducted in a descriptive mode utilizing semi-structured, researcher-directed interview protocol with focus groups. John Wesley was a source of support and dialogue with the women whose work as lay preachers helped his religious movement successfully spread throughout Europe.  However, this history is concealed from the modern church that continues to inhibit the progress of women.  The history exists, but has not been made readily available to educate the church.  There is a delicate impasse between modern women and the Methodist hierarchy.
