The design included an in-depth interview with four women between the ages of forty-eight and seventy-six.  The analysis sought to identify the attachment patterns, discuss how those impacted personality, and discern if one's religious experience could modify those patterns. This thesis maintains that women meet God in the ordinary experiences of daily living and that these encounters are often overlooked, ignored, or diminished. Fifty-eight memories of God from childhood through adulthood are recorded in the women's own voices. A unique experiential group process designed for the women taking part in the project and also in-depth case studies were used in the research. The formation of the person's understanding of self is discussed using Jessica Benjamin's Bonds of Love.  The connection between the prevailing theological anthropology and its interpretation in the church's history which has maintained suppression and domination of women is traced. A new theological paradigm is presented using Alistair McFadyen's The Call to Personhood, James N Poling's The Abuse of Power, and Elizabeth A Johnson in She Who Is.
