In many local churches the concept of lay ministry does not include participation in the area of evangelism.  It is the author's belief that the ministry of evangelism is best achieved when a local church's outreach is shared by laypersons and pastors.  The main objectives of this project are to develop and lead a workshop which will enable church members to participate in the evangelistic ministry of the local church. It concerns the development of a workshop and teaching manual on the biblical instructions which are given to parents.  The workshop is designed for Christian parents, and is constructed in such a way that it can best be used in church settings such as study groups, church training, weekend workshops, and retreats.  The major method of study and research was a personal in-depth study of scripture.  The results of the project were twofold.  First, it was established that a need exists for such a workshop within the ministry framework of the local church. The methods employed to accomplish this objective were lectures and case studies.  The procedures utilized included: enlisting a compatible group, designing an appropriate curriculum, and structuring an atmosphere for interaction.  A self-evaluating testing instrument, responded to by the participants in the first and last sessions, measured their growth in confidence as pastoral counselors. Part one analyzes the influence of the rite's theological anthropology and asceticism in ministering to the sick. Part two describes the five-session, in-service learning workshop. It articulated the characteristics of contemporary presidency at eucharist. The author designed, implemented and evaluated a five-day workshop on the topic for Roman Catholic priests.  The workshop included lectures, audio-visual critique and small group interaction among the participants.  The project demonstrated the need for continuing liturgical formation among Roman Catholic clergy. This project sought to assist such growth through developing personal learning plans based on ministry needs in a supportive group context.  Ten Fort Wayne Lutheran pastors met monthly for eight months. Beginning with lay and self-evaluation of pastoral functions, each pastor developed a learning plan complete with goals, resources, time table and accountability structure. Active listening, articulating personal needs, triangulation, and four ego defenses, drawn primarily from Virginia Satir and Murray Bowen's ideas, were explored through verbal presentations, skits, and discussions.  As a result, the participants were better able to identify potential problem patterns of communication.  They were also able to successfully apply this learning to their marriages one month later. The result of this project was a workshop that taught the Lord's Prayer as the scriptural basis, the prayer of the heart as the meditative process model, and journaling as an evaluative method.  The project was carried out in a prayer workshop in the First Baptist Church of Okeene, Oklahoma in February, 1984.  The workshop setting allowed a free interchange of ideas and dealt with the needs of the individual participants.  The in-depth study of the Lord's Prayer and the practice of the prayer of the heart were found to be the most beneficial aspects of the
