These workshops were designed to foster continuing education and personal growth relating to grief and anger issues faced in the hospital context.  Preworkshop and postworkshop questionnaires were used to gather information.  The preworkshop questionnaires showed an adequate understanding of both anger and grief. Project objectives center in 'active listening' and 'I' messages undergirded by two biblical principles.  Eight training sessions, two hours per session, are conducted during a period of two months with five couples participating.  Subjective and objective evaluations are conducted. 'Active listening' becomes established practice for nine of ten participants. Attitude change allows participants to listen with empathy and respond without judgement or criticism. Lectio divina in its classic medieval, monastic form consisted of reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation of the Scriptures. This classic approach, with the additional elements of journal keeping, the use of the Jesus Prayer, and the Jungian concept of 'active imagination' was taught to a group of six lay Episcopalians over a six-week period. The project includes four stewardship workshops, four stewardship sermons, plans for a commitment Sunday, and a celebration. Four needs were discovered during a meeting of bivocational pastors.  Pastoral care, family time, preaching and time management were addressed in separate workshops which lasted one full day each.  All of the workshops examined the time problem for the bivocational pastor in his roles as pastor and as secular employee.  The project found that much more attention must be directed to the dual roles of the bivocational pastor. As a result of the educational endeavor twelve couples from two churches accomplish observable progress in their perception and understanding as well as in their handling of stress.  Information on stress is presented through lectures and exercises. Scripture reinforces the program and assures a Christian experiennce.  Pre and post testing reveal positive results in stress management. The need for such a project emerges from both cultural and ecclesial circumstances.  Many are looking for someone to help them to find and to nurture a divine orientation in a disorienting world.  They look for someone to help them uncover and articulate the longings and stirrings of grace within them.  This spiritual awakening has urged many parish clergy to seek assistance in the practice of spiritual direction.  An important component of the project is the exploration of the common boundary between spiritual direction and pastoral counseling. The author implements Juergen Moltmann's theology of hope into a ten week program of workshops and field trips for seven couples who have moved recently. It develops a couples' prayer workshop as an intervention tool to promote marital prayer, and evaluates the results through pre- and post-tests of the experimental and control groups.  The results reveal a slight but definite correlation between conjoint prayer and marital adjustment.  No significant difference is found in a comparison of either the practice of conjoint prayer or for marital adjustment.  Further research could focus on collecting data on the correlation of conjoint prayer and marital adjustment and on developing an improved methodology for the enhancement of long-term
