Shared praxis was the approach used for the practicum. Lectio divina in its classic medieval, monastic form consisted of reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation of the Scriptures. This classic approach, with the additional elements of journal keeping, the use of the Jesus Prayer, and the Jungian concept of 'active imagination' was taught to a group of six lay Episcopalians over a six-week period. The planning and conducting of the program was accomplished within a setting of resistance in a church which had not conducted a serious stewardship campaign in eighteen years. The project includes four stewardship workshops, four stewardship sermons, plans for a commitment Sunday, and a celebration. The two main objectives of the study are to minister to the spiritual needs of the gay/lesbian person and his/her family, and to design and implement a method of instruction which can help others better understand the needs of gay/lesbian persons and minister to them in the community of believers.  The latter objective is addressed through the design and testing of a workshop format which included general information on homosexuality, social issues, AIDS, Scripture and theology and general ministry to and with homosexual persons. It focuses on the problems and possibilities for ministers who share ministry with the same congregation.  From Phyllis Trible's God and the Rhetoric of Sexuality the author takes the definition of feminism as a critique of culture in light of misogyny.  This definition provides the starting point for her critique of ministry.  From Elisabeth Schuessler Fiorenza's book In Memory of Her she learns the ways of feminist hermeneutics which serve as a critical tool for viewing the development of the church and ministry and as a constructive tool for seeing and creating new possibilities in ministry. Shared ministry, the possibility which the author envisions, applies a feminist hermeneutics to the life of the church. Four needs were discovered during a meeting of bivocational pastors.  Pastoral care, family time, preaching and time management were addressed in separate workshops which lasted one full day each.  All of the workshops examined the time problem for the bivocational pastor in his roles as pastor and as secular employee.  The project found that much more attention must be directed to the dual roles of the bivocational pastor. As a result of the educational endeavor twelve couples from two churches accomplish observable progress in their perception and understanding as well as in their handling of stress.  Information on stress is presented through lectures and exercises. Scripture reinforces the program and assures a Christian experiennce.  Pre and post testing reveal positive results in stress management. They look for someone to help them uncover and articulate the longings and stirrings of grace within them.  This spiritual awakening has urged many parish clergy to seek assistance in the practice of spiritual direction.  An important component of the project is the exploration of the common boundary between spiritual direction and pastoral counseling.
