The practicum was designed with six members of the congregation participating in the exposure to James Fowler's theory of faith development. As their ideas of 'faith' were enlarged, the group, in conjunction with the Christian education committee, designed curriculum and courses whereby the educational needs of thecongregation were addressed. Furthermore, Jesus, as epitomizing this symbol, demonstrates that the most significant characteristic of the heart is its vulnerableness to the love of God. Therefore, a secondary premise of this thesis is that human vulnerability, as a posture of faith, is essential to human self-fulfillment. Being penetrated is not necessarily a contradiction to be avoided but can lead to opportunities for human growth and entrance intod the Kingdom of God. In line with this premise, Jesus has been interpreted (functionally) as the Mediator who reveals the Fatherhood of God as grace and compassion on the one hand and, on the other, that the true posture of faith is seen as a vulnerable heart. The last chapter argues that the Fatherhood of God, revealed in Jesus as compassion and grace, contains feminine characteristics which posit genuine vulnerabiity of God's nature which can be held together in an androgynous model."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715430997164032,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:46:23.381Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:13:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:57:56Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8ace75ac-3b3b-4405-b12f-4654e12eaeb7","accessControl_ssim":["9e368084-7514-4bf8-848d-403e28630dc5"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Biblical perspectives on world hunger"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:12:59Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:12:15Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["50667772-1860-4380-a562-291a873fd306"],"hasLease_ssim":["bc109cbc-71e0-47dd-b532-d2b424d0d69a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Boston University"],"advisor_tesim":["Harrell F Beck"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Darrell Kent Huddleston"],"keyword_tesim":["Prophets in the Old Testament"],"publisher_tesim":["Boston University School of Theology"],"subject_tesim":["Sabbatical year (Judaism)","Covenants--Biblical teaching","Hunger","Kingdom of God","Poor--Biblical teaching","Developing countries","Christian stewardship","Imperialism"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The proposed topic of this study is that the biblical material has as one of its pervading themes God's special concern for the poor and hungry. A six session seminar was conducted with ten lay persons. Outside reading and journal keeping were required. Counseling techniques were taught relating to listening, grief, depression and spiritual crisis. The participants were involved in one-on-one practice sessions. The seminar proved the hypothesis and was a significant growth experience for participants."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["0f3d74d9-8a9b-4580-a458-c2d78a76b977"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716082776276992,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:56:44.967Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:12:32Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:14:14Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"d9f79125-35ac-4b74-8c0a-59bd577770d7","accessControl_ssim":["7ca5ddda-5ab9-41c2-97c4-958296063632"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Evangelization and the Episcopal Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:12:31Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:21:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["b4cfb571-a779-44cd-be9b-cd50fe8164ed"],"hasLease_ssim":["4c6ce61c-517b-44e0-a50f-7ec444dc3708"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["C William Bryan"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William Kenneth Herod"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Episcopal Church","Church growth","Evangelistic work","Visitations (Church work)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Reception of sacraments presumes the communicant's prior commitment of faith, but before that must have come proclamation of the gospel.
