The tapes focus on critical areas of pastoral care within the hospital: The Initial Call, The Presurgical Call, The Spiritual Needs of Patients, Family Members and Imminent Crises. The tapes will be used for the orientation of pastors who volunteer to serve as night chaplains. The pastors who volunteer are ordained by their respective denominations, but few of them have been clinically trained as chaplains. The video tapes have been produced to help introduce the volunteer chaplains to the environment of the hospital in which they will be doing pastoral care. The tapes endeavor to provide some of the pastoral skills which pastors may be lacking. The tapes teach sound pastoral theology and provide models of pastoral care which the volunteer pastors can discuss and evaluate. The didactic material raises the issues faced by the patient. It then seeks to address these issues through actual models of pastoral care. Interviews with hospital patients show what happens when the chaplain is present."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129141956837376,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:11:00.051Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:17:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:36:15Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"76d07209-777a-4724-95da-bcb286ceb6e1","accessControl_ssim":["189adc67-0797-4c63-9fd6-eacdf78b35ed"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of six North American Baptist sunday schools and three non-North American Baptist sunday schools in Detroit for 1969-1979"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:17:18Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:37:28Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["29210574-9376-4542-940e-ff3acb2d378c"],"hasLease_ssim":["d46a0449-de43-409c-b134-11a330d89796"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["North American Baptist Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Ralph E Powell"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"location_tesim":["Michigan--Detroit"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Kenneth C Fenner"],"publisher_tesim":["North American Baptist Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Sunday schools","Church history","Baptists--Education","Mikolaski, Samuel J","North American Baptist General Conference--Education","Sunday school teachers"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Six North American Baptist Sunday Schools and three non-North American Baptist Sunday Schools in the greater Detroit area are compared for the years 1969 through 1979. The final document is completed with an annotated bibliography."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["United Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["f0f9c284-37b6-440c-96ab-39e6509e82ee"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128443110293504,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:59:53.579Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:17:18Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:14:50Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"fba88ac5-c86c-4a2b-bef2-fc5e72dd8b01","accessControl_ssim":["84f1e4ce-5a70-422a-8f7d-3ab13f00a72e"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Pastoral counseling in death and grief"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T21:17:17Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T05:19:13Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["05b440a4-3763-46c5-bc72-17c45c3e8a0b"],"hasLease_ssim":["d27d3465-48df-4df0-96f4-55ed6b2ae8cf"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"year_tesim":["1981"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["William R Chace"],"publisher_tesim":["Phillips Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Pastoral counseling","Death--Religious aspects--Christianity","Grief","Identity (Psychology)","First United Methodist Church (Cherokee, Okla)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project emanated from the thesis that there is no experience more traumatic than the death experience. The hermeneutic was pastoral and involved two foci: the theological-theoretical and the experiential-phenomenological. The former dealt with paul tillich's being and nonbeing as it relates to anxiety. This particular method of study focused on the nature of pastoral ministry via living human documents (persons). It is akin to what is called a phenomenological hermeneutic. The data partially fulfilled the expectations of the hypothesis. Inadequate knowledge of common staff dynamics, in which sex is but one factor, causes misunderstandings of their complexity. To enhance harmony and mutuality during candidacy and in staff relationships, a discussion-starter is provided. A theoretical model of staff relationships is developed.
