The paper uses the Wesleyan quadrilateral and an analysis of the local church setting as a basis for establishing role priorities.  The paper includes ten attributes which the writer considers essential for effective ministry.  Senior ministers should take into account their strengths and weaknesses regarding these attributes in order to establish priorities in a realistic and practical manner. The project was researched with a local church board of administration consisting of nine men.  There  were two facets of the project.  An educational emphasis employed twelve school of ministry sessions.  The experiential impact was highlighted by ten ministry reports from the board members.  Some of the results included a greater awareness that all Christians are ministers; an increased understanding of and involvement in ministry. This paper includes a discussion of prayer in life, a survey of literature, description and evaluation of the two groups, theological reflections, and includes outlines of the sessions, a prayer worksheet, and an evaluation form for spiritual growth groups.
