The expression of this narrative quality in Christian worship is primary to the formation of Christian identity.  A study group assembled to investigate the narrative function in Christian faith and worship.  They developed a series of worship experiences based on a narrative understanding and evaluated them for increased awareness of Christian identity of the worshiper. The design of learning experiences begins with an interview to elicit expectations and a period of guided individual learning with a sponsor.  Then, group meetings explore faith and Christian living.  Daily Bible readings expand each meeting theme during the week.  Participants expressed six types of expectations which motivated their learnings, and their growth is correlated to Fowler's faith development theory. Through the administration of a questionnaire, a survey of the literature, meetings with members of the hospital staff and volunteers who interviewed patients, nine issues of concern surfaced and were acted upon by the pastoral care staff. Through these groups the fellowship is being renewed, the laity involved and the outreach mission of the church extended. A pastor should be in constant dialogue with his or her own narcissism.  Secondly, a pastor needs to feel compassion for the inflicted individual or congregation. Also a pastor needs to feel empathy towards the narcissistic individual or congregation.  Even with constant monitoring and fine tuning, confrontation will cause narcissistic injury followed by anger and rage. The project focuses on the biblical concept of vision.  Jesus' vision of the Kingdom of God and his use of parables provide a model for visioning.  Significant changes in the larger environment affecting the community and the congregation's response to these movements are analyzed. The project focuses on congregational authority in terms of Scripture and leadership.  The project identifies congregational needs, strengths, limitations, challenges, possibilities, and signs of hope. The goals of this project are: 1) to systematize some practical, life-related biblical principles that have shaped the scriptural understanding of present church members; 2) to develop a means of introducing new members to these principles; 3) to facilitate the orientation of new members to the biblical concepts that have influenced the church family; 4) to help new members identify areas of personal need and find initial solutions, visualizing the church as a resource for growth and development; 5) to provide small group learning experiences, giving opportunity for bonding, security, and friendship.  The validation of the project is supported by both theology and survey resources.
