Western Pennsylvania Conference"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This study sought to identify a constructive pattern of clergy traits as noted by productive pastors to be important in the creation of a positive pastoral presence in their parishes.  A survey questionnaire addressing the issue of pastoral presence was administered personally to 101 randomly chosen ministers of the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference.  Twenty-two of this group were given further opportunity of an oral response in an open interview.  Positive and negative trait patterns were identified by these pastors. This paper assumes that spirituality has to do with the whole being and examines existential elements of spirituality in a heterodox context. The method followed was based on an existential phenomenological research model. Responses to the request, tell me about your spiritual journey, were recorded and factored for themes. The study reviews both Jungian typology, upon which the MBTI is based, and the instrument itself. Application of type awareness is related to the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of sermons. This project provided the justification for and the procedures by which the Shiloh Baptist Church, Chesterfield County, Virginia, created this system.  The result was the implementation of a manual of operations for the church and the development of a positive image for the congregation. Much of this results from an imbalance in ministerial style.  The traditional style of ministry has an excessive analytical, logical approach.  What is needed is a balancing of this approach with an intuitive, relational, in-depth type of awareness.  Ministry which involves a balanced awareness has many implications. Application can take place in sermon preparation, worship experiences, pastoral care, and organnizational planning. Meditative experiences are especially congruent for encouraging a balance. The results of this study are incorporated in further theological reflection.  The concluding chapter outlines a proposed model for future church relations programs.  This model consists of seven foundational principles and five practical suggestions. Taking seriously both the delphi study and the Lutheran doctrine of the two kingdoms, the model challenges the agency to engage in church relations as a theological task which requires political strategy. The report covers a period of one year.  Reflections are presented for each monthly session. Approximately twenty persons attended each meeting.  The project reflects theologically and psychologically on the issues of death, mourning, widowhood and God's will in people's lives.  The report examines these topics scripturally and historically. But concern is expressed about the religious (Hind] aspects of the Science of Creative Intelligence, the philosophy surrounding the TM program, and about the esotericism and secrecy in the advanced TM Sidhis program. Recommended are more scientific research and theological reflection on TM. Through survey and analysis of the self-understanding of a number of church lay leaders, the more significant factors are isolated and described. Results of the research indicate that family and sacramental factors are highest on the list of contributors to these leaders' development.
