Following his research the author analyzes similar components in the new church development he serves.  With the aid of A church planning questionnaire by Grayson L Tucker Jr, and added questions developed from the research, the writer measures his church against that of the rapidly growing new churches of the first three centuries.  Areas of similarity and weakness were identified. When the study was concluded, the material became part of a course of study designed for elders and deacons-elect in the Presbyterian Church (USA). Chapters 1-3 explore the epistemological structures and theological foundations of Reformed theology in light of the philosophers of science, Michael Polanyi and Thomas Kuhn. Chapter 4 contains the author's commentary and study guide on the Apostles' Creed for use in Christian education with older youth and adults. Lesbians, a group which experiences a dual alienation (as women and as homosexual people), were the project's target group.  The two phases of the study were 1) the development of a planning team from the alienated which developed the encounter experience, and 2) the actual self encounter.
