It uses this model for the pastoral assessment of congregational families with regard to life cycle issues.  The author hypothesizes that the model may be useful in identifying families who risk having difficulty with life cycle transitions and situational crises.  He shows how the family wellness program 'Understanding Us,' which is based on the circumplex model, can be a vehicle for such assessment. In addition there is a lack of understanding of the 'essential tenets' of Reformed theology.  Through preaching and teaching, this project attempts to educate the congregation of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Clarksburg, Pennsylvania about the Book of Confessions and the Reformed tradition. Fourteen sermons are preached, based on the sections of the Heidelberg Catechism that deal with the Apostles' Creed.  A thirteen-session class on the Book of Confessions is held. The method of research demonstrates how the TSPM as a mass organization under the united front is wooing over Western evangelicals. The author then shows the response of Western evangelicals and gives a true account of the Chinese church situation. This group of counselees is the most common group in inpatient psychotherapy.  They manifest behavioral and anti-social problems as well as serious academic and family difficulties.  The author provides a theory of the adolescent's psychic life.  He proposes a promising alternative treatment that is multi-faceted.  It insists that adolescents grow into adults by becoming responsible for their own behavior. These needs can be addressed through a multi-dimensional program that is intentional in scope and relational in nature.  The project is based on extensive reading noted in the bibliography and on six training events led by the author for a group of volunteers who will plan, implement and evaluate the youth ministry. They lead him or her to carry out works of justice. Inappropriate reception or resistance to the care given by others results from a misunderstanding about the nature of faith.  A training program is designed which enables persons to understand how to receive care.  The author tests the program on twelve selected members of his congregation.  A refined version is being used to train every member in mutual care.
