A small congregation has adequate resources. It needs to intentionally use its primary resource which is its ability to be the community of God's people gathered around Word and sacraments. The congregation is encouraged to invite, welcome, and incorporate people into this community. A local congregation was the arena for developing the model. A small congregation in south Texas is able to do effective evangelical outreach as it accentuates its ability to be a community."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134089636478976,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:29:38.526Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:12:39Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:14:34Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2760ad23-bac3-403f-ba68-596b1da1914a","accessControl_ssim":["52b975cf-3d9e-4273-a470-2960decbb882"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The Trinity Bible Institute (the Bronx, NY): establishing an alternative adult Christian education program within a black Baptist church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T01:12:38Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:17:11Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["930db07f-8e98-4b2a-b6ec-b42b1815012a"],"hasLease_ssim":["7d4b8b8f-925e-4512-8159-f60f6728ef04"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Thomas Hoyt"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Barbara E Headley"],"publisher_tesim":["Hartford Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["African American Baptists","Christian education of adults","Trinity Baptist Church (Bronx, NY)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is the establishment of a model for an adult Christian education ministry within Trinity Baptist Church, an inner city Black Baptist church in the Bronx, NY. The purpose and intent of this project is the design, implementation, and management of an alternative and innovative adult Christian education ministry. The project focused on the development of curriculum, faculty, staff, promotion and publicity, and financing for this kind of educational ministry. It is a program both spiritual and instructional in character designed to enhance an awareness of God's presence and to encourage theological reflection through Christian education and shared ministry. Its goal is to relate human activities, ambitions, and purposes with God's purpose for humankind. While the lectures in the program deal with an analysis of this goal, the bulk of the project is devoted to case studies to encourage participants to work actively on everyday issues, employing the Anglican tools of scripture, reason, and tradition.
