This project ponders what Marney might well have said. Beginning with a theological foundation for preaching that utilizes a variety of sources, Marney's understanding of preaching as the authentic word of God is built in three stages. They include the task of preaching itself, the personhood of the preacher, and the role of preaching in relation to the mission and ministry of the church."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799719157235712000,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:45:37Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:09Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T01:44:21Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"0154fb9d-5990-42d5-91b7-b6798ab17da0","accessControl_ssim":["72dfdca3-c722-430b-b1a5-645e1bb3c70d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Secular and Presbyterian philosophies of leadership as compared with the teaching and example of Jesus Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:08Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T22:09:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["2a23031c-cfbf-4879-bb67-5b1371727a6c"],"hasLease_ssim":["1d2ebdca-b8bd-40e5-82e0-b15f13ac52b1"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Walter T Davis"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["J Patrick Jordan"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Bible. It is a concern that many churches have not come to terms with. In Australia unemployment was a major concern in the early part of the 1980's. This study looks at one major industrial city, namely, Wollongong in N.S.W. and considers the responsibility of the church to do ministry with the unemployed. It raises the preliminary issues of consciousness raising within the church on the issues of unemployment. It looks at economic, sociological, and theological aspects of unemployment and then proceeds to use the process of structural analysis as a tool in a workshop situation. The process of doing theology receives considerable attention because it represents a biblical and theological framework for shaping ministry with the unemployed."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["38714359-d032-4ed0-ae3f-cb82c8f65a92"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799716943324774400,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:10:25.650Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:08Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:25:12Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"74f7e7e8-a247-4dbd-9554-c5eff064be45","accessControl_ssim":["40f82103-7b77-4f0e-94ab-3864e7019e31"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A study of selected historical and contemporary writers on spiritual direction with implications for role of the minister as spiritual guide"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T00:51:06Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:33:49Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["18f997a1-a72c-47e9-a750-50d751ea593a"],"hasLease_ssim":["82106d8c-0195-46b7-80a9-9b12767e900f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Denise Carmody"],"year_tesim":["1990"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Diana Robertson McKee"],"publisher_tesim":["San Francisco Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Ignatius, of Loyola, Saint, 1491-1556","Sölle, Dorothee, 1929-2003","Underhill, Evelyn, 1875-1941","Gratton, Carolyn","Schneiders, Sandra M","Benedict Biscop, Saint, 628-690","Christians (Disciples of Christ)","Spiritual direction"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This dissertation is an attempt to find a meaningful and theologically sound approach to spiritual direction for women of the Disciples of Christ denomination. The study involves in-depth research into the approaches of the two major figures in the history of spiritual direction: Benedict and Ignatius Loyola, representing the ancient and classical eras of religious thought, respectively. There follows a study of four modern women writers in the field of spiritual direction: Evelyn Underhill, Dorothee Soelle, Sandra Schneiders, and Carolyn Gratton. Bioethical literature from 1980 to 1988 was reviewed. There is a bioethical role for pastors complementing the function of healthcare providers. Implications for pastors applying six ethical principles and nine underlying ethical foundations reveal they will benefit by making use of them. Free moral will is claimed by liberal religion to be a part of our human dignity. Modern evolutionary theory poses a serious challenge to this claim. The place of human moral freedom is called into question. The problem is to construct an adequate, meaningful doctrine of free moral will which is 'true' within an evolutionary framework. The theologies of Ralph W Burhoe and Henry N Wieman are reviewed to discover their doctrines of free moral will in light of evolutionary theory.
