As the spiritual direction coincides with individualism, there exists the potential for a profound conversion experience.  The method of research was the use of case study material from four spiritual directees.  There was a convergence of material from interpersonal relationships, relationship with God, and Jungian insights into the interior life.  The Jungian material included use of symbols, dreams, typology, journal keeping, active imagination, and rituals. The study involved three sermons, five teaching sessions, and two workshop classes. A curriculum was designed that consisted of ten discipleship training sessions.  To determine the effectiveness of the program, the experimental research method was used. Positive attitudinal changes were affected in deacons and church members toward supportive counseling.
