The writer argues that 'invitation' to play with the tradition is more important than 'indoctrination' with correct answers. The paper begins by examining the Scriptures and the history of interpretation to show that there is room for a wide variety of interpretations and approaches to the Scriptures. From there the paper examines developmental theories to highlight the nature of children and the gifts children bring to the study of the Christian tradition. Special emphasis is placed on the gift of imagination. Finally, these insights are brought together to suggest ways the whole congregational community can work together to invite everyone to bring their own special gifts and abilities to the task of making the faith their own."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133962606739456,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:27:37.381Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:14:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:20:47Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"622cbfd8-27a3-4e32-883e-7f146537e275","accessControl_ssim":["c527e09e-e7e4-42e6-8226-8516fda50486"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Mobilizing for mission: visionary ministry through strategic planning"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T02:14:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:00:22Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["29ac955d-de20-4124-b4bc-bfbad16c64a3"],"hasLease_ssim":["a923e8ee-15fc-43b1-bcf0-bbe26d43f639"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"advisor_tesim":["Randall R Lee"],"year_tesim":["1992"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Steven M Nelson"],"publisher_tesim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"subject_tesim":["Planning"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Strategic planning, particularly the model developed by Kennon Callahan in Twelve Keys to an Effective Church, moves a congregation and its leaders from a primarily reactive to a proactive style of ministry. Research on the various denominations shows the different ways humans, particularly women, express their relationship with God and each other and how that is worked out in their lives individually and in community. The denominations studied are: Roman Catholics, Mennonites, Hutterites, Shakers and Quakers. Spirituality is the connectedness that humans experience with God, but it also calls them to interact with each other and to act in the world."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["d722638c-a7e2-43f3-93ff-4762bde0dde7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133246074912768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:16:14.043Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":428,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
