The work of a variety of educators, both in general and Christian education, is discussed, focusing especially on the theories of James A Banks.  The work includes an exploration of the ways in which theology is informed by and contributes to multicultural education issues.  A local church multicultural education project is described and analyzed. Therefore, a pastor's life and ministry without authentic spirituality leads to burnout. To nourish and enrich spirituality requires discipline and direction. The formation of spirituality, although intensely personal, often requires both difficult self-struggle and professional guidance.  Therefore, pastors need spiritual development to overcome situations of potential burnout. The author, therefore, sought for healthy models among growing churches in such settings and studied their common characteristics. Twenty-one possible growth dynamics were identified and eleven churches were studied to ascertain which of these dynamics were common to them and to what degree they might account for growth. Fifteen characteristics were found to contribute to the growth of churches and nine of these emerged as significant. This is a library study. Traditional African religion and culture, the independent African churches, African Christian theology, and the principles of liturgical theology are employed in order to examine what is involved in Africanizing worship. The study concludes that true Africanization must integrate concerns for cultural indigenization and political liberation, and that Africanized worship must reflect this integration. Interviews were conducted with students, patients and training supervisors.  Two final interviews explored the impact of such a study on the training process. Literature review, surveys, questionnaires and interviews were completed to provide background information for the planning and implementation of the model.  This case study resulted in the formation of procedures to be used in the development of an effective program through the employment of sound administrative techniques, careful planning, variety of worship and meaningful services that exhibited the presence of the Holy Spirit. This church developed a social outreach ministry that called for auxilaries of the church to be assigned to a social agency or not-for-profit community outreach to provide stewardship of time, talent, and/or money.  The African American tradition of kinship inspired this study.
