This dissertation examines the psycho-social aspects of grief and healing, the value of telling one's story in that process, and a study of Job and Psalms 112, 88, and 30 as theological commentary to the journey of grief and healing. The result is a grief workshop design, with comments by three evaluators. The premise applied was that a congregation needs to have opportunity to interact with the creation of its own unique mission statement to ensure the validity and implementation of its mission statement.  The developmental components included an initial all-church survey, an advisory council of key leadership representatives, an adult Sunday Bible school curriculum, a sermon series, deacon home meetings, congregational meetings, a subsequent all-church survey and a short quiz to test congregational ability to articulate the summary slogan of the church's mission statement. The subjects are well-functioning middle-aged persons.  They narrate their entire journey of conversion.  Throughout the case studies, the holistic theory of Lewis Rambo and the normative theories of Donald Gelpi and Walter Conn are used to analyze the process of initial and ongoing conversion. The thesis suggests that an authentic experience of 'community' can become a reality as a result of the personal dynamics created within the congregation as well as intentional church programming.  A biblical and theological foundation is established, using the Corinthian Christian Church as the primary point of reference.  In addition, the pastoral style and authority of the Apostle Paul is used as a source of insight. Mutual accountability, ethical responsibility, and the nature of the intern-supervisor relationship surfaced as areas of concern.
