The project developed the African interdependent model, a multi-dimensional approach in which pastoral diagnosis and treatment is measured on a continuum of core relational dynamics.  The revisionist correlational model was used to correlate the thoughts of Althea J Horner and John S Mbiti. An African corporate personality is compared and contrasted with the desiderata of organization and self.  The project concluded that psychoanalytic object relations theory and African corporate personality theory can be complementary. It was grounded in the Genesis pericope in which Jacob wrestled with the ish at the Jabbok, which set cardiac crisis in the context of a life-and-death confrontation. Evaluation utilized a 'purpose in life' test given to a treatment group after participating in rehabilitation using pastoral intervention, and to a control group who had not experienced cardiac crisis. A significant relationship among these three elements, previously overlooked in the psychological and pastoral care literature, was hypothesized.  The psychoanalytic concept of transference and the theological use of metaphor were used to examine these connections.  Taking a qualitative research approach, the author interviewed four female pastoral counselors. Data was analyzed using six themes of sibling/work relationships which emerged in the literature review. One hundred and twelve United Methodist Church members listened to a simulated counseling session.  Positive and negative responses were measured by the Counselor Evaluation Scale developed for this project.  Religious subjects reported higher positive and lower negative reactions when they believed the counselor to be a United Methodist minister or a Christian pastoral counselor than when they believed the counselor was a psychotherapist, but no difference was discovered between the ratings for the minister and the pastoral counselor. An older adult council was organized and trained to interview 148 older adults, finding them healthy, active, and affluent Christians claiming interesting, meaningful lives. One of the better opportunities for achieving spiritual growth is participation is the Cursillo (Via de Cristo) movement. The method of study included reading and analysis of congregational statistical data, personal interviews with Cursillo participants from the congregation both before and after attending a retreat, surveys of Cursillo participants and comparisons with similar congregations.  Results of the study indicated that those who attend Cursillo (or similar programs) are uplifted and renewed and are better able to avoid burnout in the congregation. Interviews were carried out with seven clergywomen and twenty-four laywomen.  The relationships described were categorized according to models of fathering developed by other researchers.  Responses about gender-specific names for God were put together with father-daughter relationship data to see possible patterns. The greatest difference appeared between clergywomen and laywomen.  Clergywomen were more discriminating in choosing names for the divinity; laywomen were open to a wider variety of names.
