Jesus proclaimed the Kingdom which provides a vision for how the world is meant to be and announces liberation from all that oppresses.  The Roman Catholic Church of Chicago has the potential to be a sign and an instrument of the Kingdom, serving as a crucial and a powerful force in empowering poor people, stemming the tide of poverty in the metropolitan area.  This study addresses the challenge of transforming the Campaign for Human Development from a successful director-centered, anti-poverty program into a dynamic movement among Catholic people.  The founding vision needs recasting to serve as a catalyst for people of faith to work toward social transformation.  Ideally, the transformed situation will be marked by the addition of more active leaders, all versed in the founding vision and its potential for change in today's church and world. A great number of people, however, are not being reached for Sunday school because they are not attracted to the traditional approach of many churches. The purpose of this project was to offer an alternative to the traditional class.  Working from the assumption that many people would be interested in Bible study without the pressure of studying quarterlies, reading in class, and answering questions, the author developed the class.  Two methods of study were employed in the development of the class: a study of current trends in evangelism and church growth was conducted; and, an in-house survey of current church members and a survey of the community were conducted. It was discovered during the process that a need existed for an alternative Sunday school class. The intention of this project is to guide the estate planning and trust administration staff, general counsel and controller of the Baptist Foundation of Oklahoma to develop a written policy for funding irrevocable and revocable trusts and improve procedures for funding trusts to the extent that there are corresponding written guidelines for funding trusts of donors with charitable intent toward Southern Baptist causes. The project will be accomplished with the help of an ad-hoc committee of 10 persons serving as the 'Trust Creation Task Force.'  The task force will propose a funding policy to be officially approved by the board of directors of the Foundation.  Corresponding procedures will be graphically represented and adopted by the Foundation administration to be included in the staff procedure manual. In order to help lay people find God's will for their ministry a tool needs to be developed in order to enable the laity to better match their abilities and gifts to ministry opportunities.  The author researched the biblical material concerning God's call and spiritual gifts. The ministry opportunities at Green Acres Baptist Church were then studied, and which gifts matched which opportunities. The author then conducted a ministry discovery workshop to help lay people looking for ministry positions to find them. It was an attempt to examine how character development principles are internalized and integrated.  Participants received guidance for experiencing authentic well-being.  Well-being enables Christians to function in a harmonious and peaceful relationship with God, self, others, and the world. Research revealed a need for seminaries to become more intentional about designing wholistic character development programs, academic and student life programs. The study to validate this thesis was conducted in three Central America countries (Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica) with active pastors and ministerial students.  Seminars, workshops, and seminary courses were used to group pastors and students together.  Questionnaires were handed out to participants to measure their knowledge about chaplaincy ministries. The chaplain's job performance was introduced as a model to illustrate another way in carrying out the ministry.
