The author sent a letter to several church leaders asking them to share what motivates them to evangelism and mission and what Scriptures they use to motivate others. The author did research to find relevant seminar topics.  Six seminars were then developed by the author and presented over a period of one semester to fifteen students.  After four months, the author evaluated the effects of the seminars on the students' lives and ministries. Three seminars were found to be helpful and the rural students had been effectively trained for city ministry. This preliminary resource manual was subjected to a focus group of Nazarene leaders and others. Second, the writer designed and tested a spiritual warfare study guide. Six discussion groups and ten individuals used the study guide.  The impact of the study guide was measured with a survey, administered before and after studying. The research is based on personal interviews with Norman Shawchuck, Lyle Schaller, Leith Anderson and Robert Logan (all church growth authors and consultants).  Ten pastors were also interviewed to share how they personally led churches past 400.  Chapter 3 summarizes the research in a 'church growth pyramid' of prioritized elements necessary to grow past 400. The project focused on the spiritual gifts of evangelism, administration, encouragement, shepherding, showing mercy, service, giving, teaching, and prophecy. Activities included training sessions, completing a spiritual gifts inventory, and participating in field experiences.  Evaluation included pre-test and post-test questionnaires, expert opinion, interviews, and critical observation. Both the descriptive survey method and the experimental method were employed in the project.  An assimilation scale was developed and used to measure a person's level of assimilation.  An eight-week new members seminar was designed to assist the new members. The seminar addressed eight characteristics of an assimilated church member.  Two hypotheses were established.
