This project examines a successful chaplaincy training program at Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, which educated 40 community volunteers in a 12-week course over a three-year period. These trained volunteers enabled the hospital to continue providing 24-hour pastoral care. Based on research in current literature, the project interviews pastors who have recently moved or left the ministry, and also surveys congregations they left behind.
