The project is based in a local church community; it is focused on Scripture and on a sacramental and faith understanding of married life; it provides opportunity to practice communication skills through six meetings with 'homework' between meetings; it uses a marriage counselor to train and guide leader couples as a referral resource; it emphasizes peer couple-to-couple ministry based on lived experience in marriage. The six group sessions treat respect for relationship, confidentiality, and group process; needs of women and men; communication skills; stress and its response in men and womwen; sharing and coordinating values; and intimacy and spirituality. An appendix offers manuals for leaders and participants, evaluation forms, and bibliography."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129570057912320,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:17:48.320Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:51:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:25:35Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"29b403ec-6879-48d9-b1d5-cfa4b0f7fce4","accessControl_ssim":["783587dc-aa1b-4ddf-a056-e5f7691ba73d"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The relationship between local Grace Brethren churches and their denominational leadership: case studies"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:51:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:21:23Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["82e8d215-89e1-4e8d-b923-1ff33d66803e"],"hasLease_ssim":["644a9acd-0d31-4197-9eac-1c60c72e9508"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["John W Reed"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Jerry R Young"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Brethren churches--Controversies","Brethren Church (Progressive Brethren)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Grace Brethren churches in America exist in tension created by conflicting forms of church government. Caccioppo in a sermon series on 1 Corinthians. Expository preaching must be persuasive and life-changing, grounded on synthetic, holistic interpretation. The extended value of a series based on a biblical book and that more enduring effect are likely to occur through a cognitive process called 'elaboration.' Since the project was carried out in the uncontrolled environment of a local church, results were tentative and descriptive rather than definitive or predictive. Three communication factors emerged as significant: trustworthiness, clarity of exposition, and receptor-experience-based terminology. Given the limitations, elaboration was not confirmed, but there were anecdotal indicators of its enduring effect in sermons."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["8322f611-a593-413a-8bcd-0011fba52dc7"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130807747739648,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:37:28.673Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:51:21Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:36:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a13f9200-974b-463c-bae7-036e4492d8b5","accessControl_ssim":["8f52ceb0-b4d4-4faf-af03-d0c42ee5ba63"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Development and evaluation of a leadership seminar for church leaders in Eastern Europe"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T04:51:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:50:06Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["e93e41e1-0d26-4b11-875c-60a496a26003"],"hasLease_ssim":["f65b160a-b461-422c-a0bf-d3c6601b40aa"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William D Lawrence"],"year_tesim":["1996"],"location_tesim":["Eastern Europe"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Andrew B Seidel"],"publisher_tesim":["Dallas Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","BEE International","Case studies","Protestant churches"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project concentrates specifically on the leadership training seminar employed by BEE International, entitled 'Leadership: Empowering the Next Generation.' The project assesses leadership needs of the church in Eastern Europe, evaluates the seminar in light of those needs, and recommends changes to improve the seminar. Assessment of the pastoral leadership situation and resulting leadership needs in evangelical churches of post-communist Eastern Europe is accomplished through a Pastoral Leadership Survey. Case studies of three seminar participants evaluate the possiblility of significantly addressing these needs through a four-day seminar on the subject of pastoral leadership. These case studies, augmented by interviews, were used to determine the practical effectiveness of the seminar.
