The nature of this thesis-project is to explore and enhance the Eucharistic spirituality of liturgical ministers in the context of a retreat. A praxis-theory-praxis model of theological reflection based on the method of Thomas Groome is employed. Current spirituality is named and critiqued by the metaphor of the Eucharist as gift-exchange. This use of this metaphor is a theologically sound image capable of enhancing the religious imaginations of those who serve their liturgical assemblies. The final component of this thesis-project is a mystagogical catechesis which will enable lay ministers to continue their ministry with renewed hope in the transformative nature of the Eucharist."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Catholic Theological Union"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b51273d2-7ff5-4ecb-af24-64508c2367ad"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129407809650688,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:15:13.588Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:34:27Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:48:42Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"8459def9-f414-40c1-a30e-2716183885d6","accessControl_ssim":["791519a1-67dd-4ea8-a66d-53d0e0c0c614"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The art and science of Messianic Jewish preaching"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:34:26Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:02:02Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["87513b7d-0852-4718-9109-e268e3a27494"],"hasLease_ssim":["96a5d12f-f066-4a2b-9f42-873a4d9b3f48"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Haddon W Robinson"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Richard C Nichol"],"publisher_tesim":["Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Education--Curricula","Theological seminaries","Robinson, Haddon W","Preaching--Study and teaching","Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project is a homiletics curriculum intended for the training of Messianic Jewish clergy. The method of study used by the author was the pro-active model as outlined by William Myers in his book, Research in Ministry: A Primer for the Doctor of Ministry Program. The results of the research indicated that 50% of the participants who were not involved in ministries with the poor prior to the study-immersion experience became involved in such ministries following the experience. Additionally, 40% indicated that study alone provided such a motivation. 20% indicated that experience alone provided such a motivation, and 40% indicated that both study and experience led to such a change in their lives. It is an attempt to develop pastoral images that will authentically engage the North American cultural context. Cultural changes have implications for the pastor and the ministry of the church. In this paper, three cultural denials are discussed. Materialism has led to the denial of transcendence; individualism has led to the denial of community; anti-intellectualism has led to the denial of thinking. Three cultural quests are addressed. The existential cry for meaning is seen in the quest for transcendence in society; the individualistic cry for belonging is observed in the quest for community; the multicultural cry for identity is seen in the quest for pluralism. This study offers four pastoral images for consideration: a Listening Conversationalist, a Prophetic Subversive, a Pedagogical Guide, and a Co-Sufferer. These pastoral images also have significance for those involved in teaching on the college level. Chapter 2 presented an overview of God's desire to find a channel through which He could be a blessing to all the people of the world. God first called Abraham with a promise that through his blessing, he could be a blessing to all the people of the world. Next God called the people of Israel. When it failed to fulfill the covenant, God established the Church, and the people of God became anyone who would accept the covenant of passing on the blessings of God. The model for ministry is based on Jethro's advice to Moses using leaders of ten, leaders of fifty, and leaders of one hundred."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791128319934070784,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:57:56.109Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:34:00Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:39:33Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"92ef523a-f388-4549-82d4-077b35dda936","accessControl_ssim":["0a012dfb-97cd-4eae-b133-d96c207437b8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Preaching for transition: aiding a biological centered congregation to move toward becoming the spiritual family of God"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:34:00Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:25:54Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["06224f28-9e15-474d-b045-990d0914ba4f"],"hasLease_ssim":["6578b240-e150-4ab3-b3f0-44a0b1f4f013"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Peter Southwell-Sander"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Nerval S Myrie"],"publisher_tesim":["Northern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Kinship","Church membership"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The thesis is based on the premise that the lack of growth in the Sands church is primarily caused by their operating from a biological family frame of reference.
