The original Oremus was built around the Daily Prayer Cycle. The initial vision for the new edition was to retain several of the Daily Offices, but broaden it to include contemporary hymns, texts and prayers written by students and campus ministry staff. Early in the project the question arose as to whether one generation can write a worship resource for another generation. Therefore, the editorial process included an extensive questionnaire that was sent to regional officers of the Lutheran Student Movement, (successor to the LSAA), along with a draft of Oremus, which they were to respond to on the questionnaire along with their local worshipping communities. The thesis includes an assessment of the responses, as well as theological and sociological foundations for the final edition of Oremus, which is now in its second printing."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Miscellaneous"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["4f3e9d5f-fc19-4d44-a264-44b56604eb9a"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791130436546592768,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:31:34.667Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:51:28Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"36ce5a11-42e9-4f13-8bcc-abded5066927","accessControl_ssim":["ab25aaa2-9721-4e75-89e6-e2213d8bdee8"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Solidarity with the poor as an expression of faithful discipleship to the vision of Christ"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:42Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:43:16Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["60bd0ed0-2e2b-4518-b4bf-9a4c8283f786"],"hasLease_ssim":["3df0eb8d-8495-4af0-8968-313c84426f7f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles L Campbell"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Timothy Wilson Hobbs"],"publisher_tesim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Homelessness","Poor and the church"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["Solidarity with the poor is a crucial component of faithful discipleship. Practices of solidarity with the poor develop stronger, deeper, more discerning faith. The research reflected in this work includes: (1) a probe into sociological and economic causes for homelessness and poverty, (2) theological research of 'powers and principalities' to indicate that the social structures and institutions which abet the plight of poverty have a spiritual dimension and can be dealt with redemptively, and (3) a biblical survey which supports what this work contends is a faithful response of the church to the issues of homelessness and poverty. This research challenged those participating in the ministry project to take a close look at their middle-class complacency concerning issues of poverty and homelessness. It led to a deeper commitment to serve God through serving 'the least of these' (Matthew 25:40), and fomented an exchange of ideas for practical expressions of solidarity with the poor."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Columbia Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["b5eba5c2-141b-4673-9689-2f9720736859"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791127916709412864,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T06:51:31.564Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:43Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T07:00:37Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"a6efb0ca-e568-4aa9-84da-391d04272ec2","accessControl_ssim":["2b82fb73-2d38-42c5-9d5d-43d5811018f4"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The business of Christ in the city: developing a model for Christian community economic development"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:43Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T02:58:39Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["02427009-49d4-4faf-b246-e339382e01fc"],"hasLease_ssim":["55ca0aa6-5e88-4caf-9b96-35d2bd81616f"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Drew University"],"advisor_tesim":["Lillian E Randolph","Russell Moy"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Charles Jim Holley"],"publisher_tesim":["Drew University Theological School"],"subject_tesim":["Business--Religious aspects--Christianity","Church finance","Business--Social aspects"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["The Little Rock Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan formed a for-profit company to generate income to support its outreach ministries, ministries whose responsibilities had grown in proportion to the disappearance of traditional government entitlement programs. The material will assist nurses in the recognition of and response to the spiritual concerns of patients. Chapter Two examined the theological and biblical dimensions of the spiritual care of patients. Chapter Three presented a psychology of the spiritual care of the patient, focusing on the key role of the nurse. The emphasis was placed upon referral to the Department of Pastoral Care. Chapter Four described the process of assembling a Spiritual Care Notebook to serve as a resource for nurses and to be placed on each nursing unit at BHET. The final chapter was an evaluation and conclusion of the project. There is reason to be hopeful that once nurses are given resources and training they will grow more comfortable with the role of responding to spiritual concerns."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Southern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["55f1694e-f3f1-43ea-8ca9-da9a2899defe"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791129732243259392,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T07:20:22.992Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:20Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:28:01Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"21b7f516-f03c-44dd-8f59-fbb2b3d936dd","accessControl_ssim":["a9f9d6cc-7bc2-4038-a83d-9dcddac593b0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Developing visionary, transformational leadership within the Southern New Jersey Annual Conference"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:20Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:07:59Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["850a2194-4679-4cbe-acc3-5e828950db44"],"hasLease_ssim":["aa5ee1f0-a973-4517-b550-dffb5969784a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Stephen A Seamands"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Lewis J Hiserote"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","United Methodist Church (U.S.). This training process did not intend to impart vision to pastoral leaders, but did attempt to ignite a desire in each participant to seek a personal and corporate vision for ministry and provide understanding on how to become visionary leaders for twenty-first century ministry. Twenty pastors were selected to participate in a regimen of entrance and exit interviews, two training seminars, assigned reading, and spiritual disciplines. Participants were selected based upon the following criteria: five or more years of ministry experience; full or part-time; and appointed to church ministry within the Southern New Jersey Annual Conference. Data analysis focused predominately upon responses made during entrance and exit interviews, as well as the researcher's observations during seminars and participants' written evaluations. Major findings include: (1) visionary leadership training process is feasible for traditionally trained clergy; (2) transition from management to leadership paradigms requires a commitment to lifelong leadership development; (3) vision and leadership awareness can be increased; (4) spiritual disciplines are essential for Christian visionary leadership; and (5) transitioning clergy must find support among themselves and their connectional system. This research addresses the integration of a theological understanding of vision, spiritual disciplines, and leadership development. Through a twelve-week prescribed course of spiritual discipline, two seminars on vision and transformational leadership, biblical and theological teachings, and assigned reading, participants were confronted with a new paradigm of pastoral leadership. This dissertation describes how a select group of clergy were challenged and responded to this visionary leadership training process."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791133990589038592,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:28:04.067Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:16Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:14:45Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"e620d6a8-2fe8-410a-8997-e8289e3d8692","accessControl_ssim":["2118594f-d10a-4089-a75b-652e9f5ea590"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["A program for assimilating new members into a local church through the use of adoptive families"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T19:23:15Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T04:42:47Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3e721a4f-a885-4f69-b813-d407be75eeca"],"hasLease_ssim":["4ff7d5b0-9086-4a08-b546-16aacb0caea3"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["William Caldwell"],"year_tesim":["1999"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["David E Higgs"],"publisher_tesim":["Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Church membership","Central Baptist Church (Texarkana, Ark)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["This project involves the implementation of a formal new member assimilation program in Central Baptist Church of Texarkana, Arkansas.
