The hypothesis was that CPE would be able to provide an adequate method of pastoral training and theological reflection for urban ministry. An urban CPE program was developed at the Oklahoma Baptist School of Religion in North Tulsa in order to train and certify ministers as chaplains in various community-based organizations. The students reported developing essential knowledge and skills necessary for effective urban ministry. The project will make use of James Fowler's Stage Theory of Faith Development to provide a structure for the concept of growing faith. Participants will reflect upon their respective faith journeys, and use the Stage Theory to analyze their own faith experience.  The project will then introduce the use of classic spiritual disciplines to a group of church members through the use of material by Richard Foster in The Celebration of Discipline.  The author will propose that the practice of these disciplines will positively influence faith development.  The project will also investigate ways that the disciplines have influenced various Christian traditions as examples of the growth produced by the disciplines.  The author will also preach a sermon series intended to introduce the disciplines to the rest of the congregation. Finally, the project focuses upon vocation as the partnership of believers with God. The model utilized a sermon series and small group Bible study to increase the congregation's ability to perform long-term visioning. Consequences of the qualitative analysis indicated the intervention resulted in increased awareness of vision, related to spiritual calling in the lives of the small group and the congregation. Theological and homiletical biases prevent a suitable definition.  This study proposes that one can define the term inductively using an historical approach.  An examination of a selection of sermons by John Wesley, Charles H. Spurgeon, James S. Stewart, Alexander Maclaren and G. Thirty-seven pastors were interviewed who claimed to have changed their congregations from an inward to an outward focus.  Twenty-six of these pastors came from thirteen different states and eleven from Finland, Sweden, and Estonia.  Further understanding and insights were gathered from interviews with one Baptist, one Lutheran and one Methodist congregation. Mennonite students who attend Mennonite colleges are very likely to be involved in the Mennonite Church as adults. Lower enrollments affects the future church.  The author developed a pro-active methodology to increase the level of involvement on Mennonite parents in the college choice decision of their children.
