Korean Christians are seeking now to stick with their traditional forms of worship services. Thus, this project researches the biblical and historical foundations of worship, and studies the social and psychological factors of Shamanism, Buddhism and Confucianism for present-day Korean worship. These factors were discussed in chapter two and three.  Chapter four focused on the implementation of the Worship Committee training sessions and on the planning for the new worship services.  The methodology of teaching was lecture, discussion and visiting of other churches' worship service. Chapter five analyzed and evaluated the goals, methodology used, data collected from the research instruments and the Worship Committee training program. Chapter one defines the context of the project and provides a broad outline of the efforts made. Chapter two examines the biblical, theological, and historical basis of lay shepherding.  Chapter three looks at contemporary models for lay shepherding and pastoral care, including small groups, Sunday school, and a deacon family ministry plan. Chapter four describes the implementation of the project and circumstances that influenced its effectiveness.  Chapter five evaluates the progress made by the project, using a questionnaire and personal conversations with project participants. Chapter one describes the church setting, defines the project, and provides rationale for this work. Chapter two examines Mal 1:6-2:9 and the book of Acts as representative Old and New Testament passages regarding pastoral leadership and the nature of the church.  Chapter three examines contemporary writings on leadership and the family church and presents a pastoral leadership style for such churches. Chapter four describes the intervention and testing used in the project: sermons and meetings, questionnaires and interviews.  Chapter five analyzes the results of the testing using both subjective and objective evaluations.  It also reviews and comments on the process followed in this project. Chapter two reviews the creation of man and woman, as told in Genesis, and offers an interpretation of God's intention for their relationship, which humans have aborted.  Chapter three examines the disciplines of the psychosocial sciences with particular focus on Erikson's life-cycle task for the young adult's struggle to develop from isolation to intimacy.  Chapter four explores the work of Heinz Kohut and Soren Kierkegaard, and Tommy King to propose, in chapter five, a correlational model of grief for Christian young adults who experience divorce. This study includes an outline of the training program developed by the author; interviews of people who have been trained; and interviews with those who struggle with homosexuality and have entered discipling relationships. For the hypothesis to be confirmed there needed to be a demonstrable increase in both unity and clarity of vision among Vision Group members. The strategy that has proven to be the most biblical and effective in accomplishing this task is that of establishing or planting churches that are reaching people with the gospel in cities, towns, and villages.  However, it takes called and gifted men to plant these churches and the reality is that 'the harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few' (Matthew 9:37). The purpose of this study is to discover how the Northern Illinois Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church in America can develop a growing pool of qualified church planters in order to increase the rate of successful church planting in that presbytery. Is there a way for this presbytery, as well as the Church at large, to increase the number of men qualified for church planting so that it might more effectively fulfill the Great Commission and respond to the growing needs and opportunities that exist in America, a nation that is in serious spiritual decline?  It is the finding of this paper that a Church Planting Apprenticeship Program built around the biblical model of mentoring that Jesus demonstrated with His own disciples has significant potential for developing this growing pool of qualified church planters.  Such a program might also make possible, by God's grace, the ignition of a church planting multiplication movement that will allow the church to reach the increasingly large numbers of unchurched and unbelieving people among all the different people groups of America. I also included several issues that are specific to the Reformed tradition, such as the relationship between the Old and New Testaments vis-à-vis dispensationalism. The specific purpose of this study was to discover how a twelve week course on hermeneutics can influence the level of confidence with which a person in the class interprets and applies the Scriptures to his or her own life.  After teaching the course to twenty church members I interviewed six of them.  Though most students had heard of the 'Rule of Context' few knew how to apply it.  They found the course very helpful on this point. The course also increased their ability to identify major biblical themes, increased their confidence in interpreting the Scriptures and hearing God speak to them concretely through Scripture, as well as their ability to identify mistakes others make in interpretation.  Understanding the rules of genre was especially helpful to them.  Further study is needed in two areas: First, in the relationship between the historical development of church doctrine and the discipline of hermeneutics.
