Two curricula were tested along with a process control group over a twelve-week period. Two instruments were used: one quantitative pre- and post-test inventory and one qualitative exit interview. Participants came away from the study more aware of God's grace that is made accessible through Jesus Christ and how that grace is received relationally, in the community of faith. The research disclosed that a definiite and unique relationship exists between pastoral leadership style and dynamic growth in Nazarene churches. The findings of the study confirmed that 'coaching' and 'catalyst' leadership styles are more apt to lead Nazarene churches to experience growth. This involved studying those particular churches having turned around from a small, established, declining congregation into a growing church with a 20 percent sustained increase within five years. The research yielded thirteen instrumental factors in the turnaround of a declining church into a growing church. The top three factors include 1) visionary pastoral leadership, 2) quality music and worship, and 3) a willingness to change."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134645897658368,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:38:29.018Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:54:29Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T08:28:39Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"2fd045b7-8aa3-486d-b52b-91a80edc0178","accessControl_ssim":["230edb5a-917c-4483-9a16-b319472db4aa"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The impact of a Wesleyan model of spiritual formation upon readiness for leadership activity in a United Methodist Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-11T20:54:28Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-16T23:31:30Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["261becd8-1d1e-4ea2-8f77-9aa63863f0a0"],"hasLease_ssim":["1fc2ab28-d862-46ea-b1bc-729d67a01e2e"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"advisor_tesim":["Jerry L Mercer"],"year_tesim":["2001"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Daniel F Slagle"],"publisher_tesim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"subject_tesim":["Leadership--Religious aspects--Christianity","Experience (Religion)"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["A spiritual formation experience was prepared that emphasized Wesley's means of grace. Assimilation is dependent, however, upon the clergy staff having the time required to train, equip, and mentor the laity. Additional time can be gained by implementing a lay congregational care system. This system will ensure that all persons in the congregation will be prayed for daily; contacted weekly; will have a person available for nurture and care in times of crisis; and will be in contact with a person who will be an example of God's grace and the church's love. By utilizing this army of volunteers who are gifted in the area of care and nurture, the clergy staff can equip the saints for ministry. Equipping will be achieved through time spent in a mentoring relationship. During this time every effort will be made to help each person identify their spiritual gifts. Once these gifts are identified, one's passion will come to life and one's calling will become clear. A pretest, posttest survey was used to help determine if the care received helped to bring about the other objectives. These scores did indeed prove to be acceptable. The survey also revealed that the congregation was identifying their gifts and were feeling fulfilled in ministry."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Asbury Theological Seminary"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["6c1e11e8-b66e-47b6-8fe9-6c546c20935c"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1791134783760236544,"timestamp":"2024-02-17T08:40:40.494Z","score":1.0}],"facets":[{"name":"resource_type_sim","items":[{"value":"Unknown","hits":409,"label":"Unknown"},{"value":"D.Min.
