This project will advocate that trained transitional leaders, also called interim pastors, are best trained to deal with those congregational dynamics between permanent pastors.  After clarifying the issues involved when congregations lose their pastors this project looks to the scriptures to identify similar dynamics of change to find ministry suggestions.  It then tabulates the results of surveys sent out to American Baptist Church interim pastors, search committees, and incoming permanent pastors in assessing the work of interim pastors. Research methodology consisted of quantitative and qualitative measures used sequentially to study existing and post-intervention Christian character levels. Through focus on self-awareness and gift-awareness, statistically significant change occurred. I conducted the first parish-based Refraiming the Dialogue on Racism in America program. The project was a five-week course on racism in which thirty-six parishioners participated. Methodology of the study included a survey, spiritual autobiographies, and interviews. Findings revealed that participants did become more conscious of their whiteness, privilege, and power. It explores the biblical foundations for such a process and discovers the need for it through thirty-three church surveys and contemporary literature.  Exodus 18, Numbers 11, I Samuel 16 are the Old Testament passages examined and Acts 1:21-26 and 6:1-6, I Timothy 3:1-7, and Titus 1:5-10 are the New Testament passages. The project unveils a four-step process with appropriate forms that will enable these churches to select better elders. Research explored population statistics, theological foundations, and care giving issues.  A protocol was created for congregational interviews to guide the interaction and provide useful information for effective partnerships to grow.  These interviews brought to the surface both issues in senior care ministry and the desire for partnership efforts potentially to ensue.
