The project initiates a homiletical method that utilizes research, criticism, movement and a dialectic approach to encourage congregational response and spiritual transformation. The methodology applied reveals that while celebration has cultural traits depending upon context, it also has a biblical and theologically precedence and warrants being experienced by every Christian community. This work aims to establish that there are spiritual benefits and advantages associated with both cognitive and emotive celebration. The '40 days of purpose' is a church-based campaign that was created at the Saddleback Community Church in Lake Forest, California, where Rick Warren is the senior pastor, and is designed to address five elements of church health: evangelism, worship, fellowship, discipleship and service. This project will review Saddleback's understanding of these areas of church health as well as the way they are presented in the '40 days of purpose' and present an alternative understanding and presentation, as well as the addition of prayer as a key element of church health. As specifically stated in the title, this project contends for the centrality of expository preaching and as such, it presents both the philosophical foundation and the homiletical process of expository preaching. Specific illustrations are given on how to preach expository sermons from New Testament Epistles and Old Testament narrative, with suggestions on how to make exposition relevant to congregations of the twenty-first century. There is also a detailed proposal on how a church might follow the sermon with discussion based on time-tested educational theory."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["work_editor","public"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799717852779905024,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T02:24:52.974Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:58:13Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-05-22T02:42:58Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"72dfa431-6c78-4621-9c06-a1411f639bcf","accessControl_ssim":["bafa0414-fa07-4c18-9abb-885d90ec12e0"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["The effect of narrative preaching from Daniel 1-6 on the Crystal Lake Church of the Nazarene"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:58:12Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T01:29:34Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["3d0b1c22-16f5-47cb-937b-fb6ea560d2ff"],"hasLease_ssim":["232684a6-f145-44c1-a867-76315fdf231a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Martin R Crain"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Frank R Laci"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Narrative preaching","Bible. Thesis: To turnaround, a dying church must: (1) experience a crisis situation; (2) permit district leaders to discern whether they qualify as a 'true remnant'; (3) Recommit to wholehearted devotion to God; and (4) refocus on becoming a Great Commission church. Method of study: The method of studying church redevelopment was to analyze the Wyandotte Alliance Church of Wyandotte, Michigan, an aging church that almost closed. Results of research: Four refocus realities are needed to redevelop: (1) determine that a true remnant exists; (2) pray then plan; (3) restore wholehearted devotion to God; (4) redefine God's purposes to exist."],"rights_statement_tesim":["https://rightsstatements.org/vocab/InC/1.0/"],"thumbnail_path_ss":"/assets/work-a3b75da7abded620ab321410c80d102e5e2417b71c54de7ba7d4b0363da904f7.png","suppressed_bsi":false,"actionable_workflow_roles_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-approving","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-depositing","f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8-default-managing"],"workflow_state_name_ssim":["deposited"],"member_of_collections_ssim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"member_of_collection_ids_ssim":["c654e922-76d0-4427-ac29-e286b7997781"],"visibility_ssi":"open","admin_set_tesim":["Metadata Only"],"account_cname_tesim":["rim.ir.atla.com"],"human_readable_type_tesim":["Etd"],"read_access_group_ssim":["public","work_editor"],"edit_access_group_ssim":["admin"],"edit_access_person_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"_version_":1799715309881393152,"timestamp":"2024-05-22T01:44:27.877Z","score":1.0},{"system_create_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:57:14Z","system_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T06:09:18Z","has_model_ssim":["Etd"],"id":"b59f626f-dddb-436b-8b01-e2192ab03794","accessControl_ssim":["893951ee-ba08-4151-b101-8169de899bcc"],"depositor_ssim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"depositor_tesim":["ckarpinski@atla.com"],"title_tesim":["Men in Christ: an eight-month discipleship ministry for men at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church"],"date_uploaded_dtsi":"2023-10-12T09:57:13Z","date_modified_dtsi":"2024-02-17T03:22:29Z","isPartOf_ssim":["f6c99b2a-5c91-4444-8946-01a1837f1fd8"],"hasEmbargo_ssim":["c2c23612-6dd1-4b0e-af36-c81a68fc9580"],"hasLease_ssim":["1bd420d9-aae2-41c4-b6aa-3e9aa2bd542a"],"show_pdf_viewer_tesim":["1"],"show_pdf_download_button_tesim":["1"],"institution_tesim":["Atla RIM"],"degree_tesim":["Unknown"],"degree_granting_institution_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School"],"advisor_tesim":["Charles M Sell"],"year_tesim":["2005"],"resource_type_tesim":["Unknown"],"types_tesim":["Text"],"creator_tesim":["Roy R Peterson"],"publisher_tesim":["Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Trinity International University"],"subject_tesim":["Small groups","Church work with men","Christian life"],"language_tesim":["English"],"abstract_tesim":["God's people are called into a relationship with Jesus Christ to be His disciples.
