The author, using a qualitative approach to his research, focuses on examining the effects of stress and burnout in the pastorate by concentrating in the areas of the pastor, the pastor's family, and the pastor's congregation. With some 1500 pastors leaving the ministry each month, the findings of this research reveals the majority of pastors understand their stress levels to be increased but very few are doing anything preventative. This is also a study in encouraging possible future planting pastors and lay people who are struggling with reluctance whether to leave the safety of a mother church and listen for the call to be part of a birthed daughter church. The purpose of this study is to examine how mother churches overcome their reluctance in planting daughter churches in the suburban context. My research questions that will guide me will be: 1. What are the characteristics of the reluctance on the part of a mother church in planting a daughter church? 2. How were those issues addressed in those churches? 3. Through questionnaires and interviews, eleven NCD pastors articulated their convictions. Survey instruments used biblical foundations, historic distinguishing characteristics of the church, and climates and methodologies incorporated by these pastors. Koinonia, the unique sense of community generated within faith communities, was deemed absolutely vital.  Also very important were leitorgia (worship), kerygma (proclamation), and didache (teaching). A class was created to accomplish this purpose. The Christian preachers were taught how to construct expository messages. The importance of good sermon delivery was stressed. The preachers were instructed to read the text aloud expressively, use voice, body, and eyes appropriately, and communicate passionately. Finally, the students were trained to evaluate messages for accuracy, clarity, interest, and relevance. El Rev. Rick Warren, pastor de la iglesia de Saddleback, fue quien dio origen a dicha estrategia. La estrategia consiste en llevar a la congregación a responder a la pregunta, Para qué estoy acá en la tierra y en base a los cinco propósitos del programa y en función de grupos pequeños, arribar a una respuesta que produzca crecimiento en la vida de los creyentes y mayor asistencia a la iglesia local. El presente trabajo de investigación busca evaluar la efectividad del programa en tres iglesias de Lima, Perú. La hipótesis es: 'El programa de 40 Días con Propósito tiene una aplicación limitada con resultados distintos, dependiendo de la preparación, contexto y disposición los líderes involucrados. Además, los resultados de dicho programa no son permanentes sino que la mayoría de las personas llegan a la iglesia pero no permanecen más de un año a menos que se cuente un buen programa de discipulado.' Este trabajo utilizará diferentes instrumentos de medición. Estos instrumentos están en forma de encuestas y entrevistas personales. La conclusión a la que se ha llegado como resultado de la investigación, valida significativamente la hipótesis planteada. The time parameter was May 6, 2001 until October 7, 2001.  Biblical research focused on the prayers of Abraham (Gen 18:22-33), Moses (Exod 32:11-14), Paul (Phil 1:3-8), and Jesus (John 17:1-26).  Contemporary studies were explored, which addressed the scientific experimentation concerning the relationship of prayer and therapeutic medical treatment.  Research methods included survey instruments at the beginning and end of the project along with two focus groups for evaluation.
